What it is like to participate in TAS InvicTAS 2019 -By Team RBD from FMS Delhi
Working for TAS InvicTAS as a team made us cudgel our brains at every level. While working on a business simulation task gave us the direction of execution and whatever we had planned before. For the business simulation challenge, we were responsible for running a company manufacturing bicycles. We spent a good amount of time understanding the various parameters, understanding the financial statements before starting the game. Per round, we spent around 2-3 hours and focused on gaining market share, improving stock prices, R&D, employee welfare and profitability.
Judgment quality, organization, and framing of TAS InvicTAS 2019
On the battlefield, there were 7 teams that made it to the campus round. The winning team was the toughest competitor. They had a great strategy to capture the market and increase sales which maximized their chances to win the competition. Moreover, as per their strategy and the execution, they deserved the victory.
Specifically, the judgment quality, organization, and framing of the competition were brilliant as they gave us various real-life business scenarios. We had to tackle all divisions right from sales and marketing, finance to strategy and HR. The interface was user-friendly and they gave an extensive game manual which helped in strategy development.
In order to play the game, we had to understand all the basics of all the verticals of management. Over and above that, I also learnt to work in harmony with a team and the division of tasks on the basis of skill-set and area of expertise.
Team's forte and golden moments
One of the golden moments during the competition was when our stock price shot up to 800+ in the 5 round. That was a moment of success as our investment in R&D paid off in increasing product popularity and sales. It was more than we expected as a team. You know what? Life is like that.
Behind all the process, every member of the team collectively worked with the same enthusiasm and energy. Shivendra is the finance man. Coming from a trading background, he handled the statements and projections well. Riya is great with marketing and HR skills. She managed those divisions for the team.
All-inclusive, it was a great experience working in a team. We understood each other's strengths and worked accordingly. We gained knowledge about new concepts and learned some constructive methods to execute every task effectively.
