TechGig Geek Goddess 2018

Coding brings innovations and these innovations enhance the quality of our life. And who can bring in better transformation other than women? Geek Goddess 2018 by TechGig was one such initiative which was focused around Code Divas in Technology. Traditionally, coding and technology have been seen more of a male-centric vocation, but time has changed and we have outstanding coders who are women and Geek Goddess 2018 gave them that platform through which they were able to showcase their coding talents.

Geek Goddess 2018 Hackathon was open for women who are recent graduates and have just begun working or experienced professionals currently working, for experienced professionals actively seeking a new position and Tech professionals who have taken a break from active work.

This contest was open to coders in 52 different languages including C, C++, C#, Java, PHP, Python, VB.Net, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, Objective C, Go, Scala, F#, Haskell, Lua, D, Clojure, Lua, Groovy, Tcl, Ocaml, Erlang, Smalltalk, Cobol, Racket and Bash.

This Hackathon had three different rounds- Screening, Semi-finale and Finale

Screening

After registering for the contest, the participants would automatically be redirected for the screening.

The Screening round consisted of-

1. Intra-Company Round


2. Open Round

Intra Company Round- In this round, participating companies conducted code contests for their employees & identified the top coders for the Semi-finale.

Open Round- Here, participants from all other companies battled to reach the Semi-Finals.

There was 1 coding problem in the screening test and all the players who scored above 40%, qualified for Semi-Finals.

Semi Finals - Online Hackathon

Post screening, the qualified candidates got the opportunity to take part in the Online Hackathon. The rules for this Hackathon were rather simple. Candidates could participate in it from any location and there was only 1 coding problem.

Participants had the privilege of writing codes and rectifying it as many times as they wanted, however, only the last hack before the submission deadline was taken as valid.

The Hack should have had been developed only during the hackathon window period, where the coders were allowed to use open source libraries and other freely available systems or frameworks.

Grand Finale - Offline Presentation

The coders appeared for an offline presentation during the Grand Finale event which was held at Bangalore. This 95-day long hackathon witnessed an overwhelming participation of more than 68,791 women technologists. The day-long event was held at The Den Hotel and Snehlata Mishra was crowned 'TechGig Geek Goddess 2018'. The winner was awarded a cash prize of INR 1,50,000, along with a trophy and a certificate.

There were various other Runners-up, Theme Champion and Runner-up and International Coders Champion & Runner-up. The total prize money amounted to INR 9.5 Lacs.
