Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, work from home was introduced by companies globally to safeguard the health of its employees. The change in the working pattern was initially appreciated by everyone. But off late people are starting to realize that they spend most of their time in attending webinars or team meetings rather than actually working. The cycle of back to back meetings and webinars is not lost even on students. Some are attending virtual classes, some undergoing their internship virtually and some even socialising virtually. The situation was gloomy then there was some respite and not the very respite has made it gloomy all over again. Let's take a break from all the seriousness and discover our funny bone together!
If you are active on social media, you would have come across hashtags like #ZoomGloom, #DeathByWebinar and#WebinarComa which people are using to highlight the discomfort caused by the never-ending video calls, meetings, and conferences. People are now so tired that they have even started making memes and songs to express their feelings.
Recently even Anand Mahindra tweeted; “If I get one more invitation to a ‘webinar’ I might have a serious meltdown. Is it possible to petition for banishing this word from the dictionary even though it was a relatively recent entrant??”.
So basically you are not alone. Every person is getting frustrated because of the endless webinars that they are supposed to attend on an everyday basis. After Anand Mahindra tweeted about it, he even received a meme from his followers which had a scene from the movie Mughal-e-Azam wherein Prince Salim is trying to wake up Anarkali by saying “Utho Anarkali, webinar khatam hua.” (Wake up, Anarkali. The webinar is over.). This particular meme is going viral on all social media platforms.
There are so many other memes being created and shared every day. People are sharing instances wherein they have to attend at least 15 video conferences in a day. Their health is being compromised as spending 9-10 hours on a laptop is affecting their neck and back. Even internet connectivity is a major problem that is making communication worse.
These online video connections can be a handful, especially when their frequency is as high as it is now. But this is the need of the hour. These webinars are not only the source of hilarious memes but also are a treasure trove of information. A treasure which was buried away and the journey to it long and arduous.
So keep those memes coming and webinar away to greater heights!
