In a bid to increase the scope of getting employed and impart better knowledge to its students, Tripura’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) University has launched its first-ever diploma courses on GST – Goods and Services Tax. It has announced to host four types of foreign and professional courses which are – Retail and Sales Management, Insurance Risk Management, GST, and Spanish language. The diploma courses shall be conducted in the evening time and only sixty students shall be admitted to each of the new courses.

Dr. Rakesh Roy, the Assistant Controller of Examinations said that besides these evening diploma courses, two IMD (Integrated Masters Degree) courses are also being launched which will focus on subjects like commerce and chemistry. The last to fill the applications for the diploma courses is August 31st, 2020. Dr. Ray believes that the new diploma courses and programmes on professional languages shall open better avenues of employment for the students. All students who have passed their Higher Secondary examinations or any other examination of the same equivalence from any recognized education council/board are eligible to apply for admissions in these new diploma courses.

The admission process has already begun and the course fees on Retail and Sales Management, Insurance Risk Management, GST and Spanish language shall be about INR 23,000 per semester. Professor Satyadeo Podder who is the Vice-Chancellor of MBB University, Tripura said that the novel diploma courses shall prove to be advantageous for students who wish to venture into the fields of entrepreneurship. He added that any person who has prior knowledge in GST calculation shall prove to be a great asset to any industry or company. Mister Podder remarked that there is a larger percentage of our workforce who is seeking employment to earn INR 10,000-20,000 a month. With a diploma course done, people would be able to earn the money with due dignity and respect from their home states only.
