UPSC IES/ISS Examination 2023 Notification Is Out! Apply By 9th May

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is accepting applications for Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service Examination 2023. Interested candidates who fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination can apply by May 9, 2023. The date of the examination is 23rd June 2023. The details are as follows.

UPSC IES/ISS Examination 2023: Eligibility

Age limit

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August 2023 i.e he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1993 and not later than 1st August 2002. There is age relaxation for certain categories. 

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • For Indian Economic Service, the candidate must have obtained a Post-Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognized University. 
  • For Indian Statistical Service, the candidate must have obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master's degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University. 

Nationality: A candidate must be either: 

(a) a citizen of India; OR

(b) a subject of Nepal; OR

(c) a subject of Bhutan; OR

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st of January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India; OR

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 

UPSC IES/ISS Scheme of Examination

The examination shall be conducted according to the following plan: 

  • Part I:  Written examination carrying a maximum of 1000 marks in the subjects as shown below.
  • Part II: Viva voce of such candidates as may be called by the Commission carrying a maximum of 200 marks. The object of the interview is to assess his/her suitability for the service for which he/she has competed.

How to Apply?

  • Candidates are required to apply online through the official website only. It is essential for the applicant to register himself/herself first at the One Time Registration (OTR) platform, available on the Commission’s website, and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination. 
  • OTR has to be registered only once in a lifetime. This can be done anytime throughout the year. If the candidate is already registered, he/she can proceed straightway for filling up the online application for the examination.
  • The online applications can be filled up to 09th May 2023 till 18.00 Hours
