Rubina made a reel on a specific breed of mushrooms on Instagram back in 2020, which showed up in the UPSC Prelims paper this year in the form of a question. The seemingly coincidental affair has sparked off conspiracy theories as aspirants wonder if UPSC question paper setters are also followers of Rubina Dilaik.
A Meme Just Got Real
There was a multiple-choice question in the UPSC prelims where the aspirants were asked about "Gucchi", which according to the question, was “sometimes mentioned in the news". No, not the fashion brand GUCCI we know, but this “Gucchi” is a mushroom that grows in the forest areas of the Himalayan range.

The options provided along the question were “a fungus", something that “grows in the Himalayan Forest areas" and “it is commercially cultivated in the Himalayan foothills of north-eastern India." The first and second options are both correct.
While Gucci may have made the question easier, does Gucchi ring a bell for you? Well, if you had followed Rubina on Instagram, it would have!
Netizens React To Rubina’s Helpfulness
Rubina created a reel in 2020 that shared information about Gucchi mushrooms. Trolls would normally have said, "likh leta hun, kahin UPSC mein na aa jaye," but they wouldn't be laughing now.
New viewers are flooding back into the reel. One person even commented, "Ab pta chla sirf padhai se kaam ni chlta thoda bohot insta bhi chlana padta h [Got it now. Just studying isn't enough; a little Instagram is also required]."
