To shed some light on the working of one of the leading investment banks and financial services holding companies, we bring you an internship experience of an MBA student at JP Morgan.

Headquartered in New York City, JP Morgan Chase & Co. is ranked as the largest bank in the United States and the sixth-largest bank in the world by total assets, with total assets of USD 2.687 trillion as per the S&P Global 2019 reports. In its course of establishing a strong financial uphold in India, the company has achieved a milestone success. With a legacy dating back to 1799, it is the first foreign primary dealer with the Reserve Bank of India. And since 2008, it has helped raise more than USD 20 billion for Indian corporations through domestic and international offerings. All in all, working with one of the Bulge Bracket banks is no piece of cake.

A perfect layout to implement virtual internship

They made sure that working from home did not dampen our spirits and found innovative ways to make this virtual attempt a success. From our onboarding to the induction process everything was planned in a near-perfect manner. To kick things off, they organized a training program that equipped us with the required skillsets for not only the internship but further beyond.

In order to ensure connectivity and constant engagement amongst all the interns, they organized various development sessions on decisiveness, work culture, emotional intelligence, and mindfulness. Additionally, they designed team games and ice-breaking sessions every week to give us some time off from our otherwise hectic schedule.

In my project, I learnt to build a credit model for one key sector within corporate space, which reflects sensitivity to the Covid-19 situation. I was a part of the Asset and Wealth Management Line of Business and worked continuously with the Fixed Income Research Team.

A token of Gratitude

This niche background will go a long way in ensuring my development and helping me gain ground in the discipline of financial services. I would like to go forward and appreciate JP Morgan Chase & Co for all that they have done. I extend my thank you to KJ Somaiya Institute of Management and its Corporate Relations Team for bringing such life-changing opportunities to us.

In a nutshell, doing an Internship at JP Morgan Chase & Co. was a dream come true experience and an asset takeaway!
