If you ask anyone who has ever entered the holy realm of raging fire, known as an MBA, he’ll tell you that the internship experience is a quintessential part of the path to revelation. Add to that, the ‘once in a lifetime dreaded pandemic’, and the rage will get immolating. That was the time when I did my internship at GSK Consumer Healthcare.

A beacon of hope amidst the complete mayhem

Before joining, there were so many uncertainties around; people’s offers were getting revoked, summer internships getting delayed, sometimes even canceled and what not. However, we were getting a goody bag from GSK CH, giving us the boost, quite literally for the upcoming internship.

Even before the commencement of my internship at GSK CH, we were apprised with the culture of the company, so that we can learn in a better way. It was a new experience for all of us working remotely due to COVID-19, but still, we were interacting with senior leaders and other interns which helped a lot.

As pleased as punch with my internship at GSK CH

Post induction, I joined a team that was working on one of the pressing issues at the time. I was assimilated into the team seamlessly and I worked with many interdisciplinary teams to solve that issue. GSK is known for its approachable culture and despite the issues with working remotely, I could feel that warmth. I could not have asked for a better atmosphere.

In those two months, I was able to deliver and implement a working model of my solution while I was there, which shows the commitment and trust that the company has on its interns. Truth be told, it’s really a satisfying experience to see your work go live.

It could have been different had I joined the internship in person, but given the circumstances, I believe it was one of the best experiences I could have asked for.

I worked at something that was rarely given to an intern and it was something I wasn’t very sure about completing then. But, it has given me some of the greatest learnings which will surely help me in my future endeavors.
