Brokers of Dalal Street: An Old-School Stock Market Simulation Game

Event Description:

• Brokers of Dalal Street is an engaging old-school stock market simulation game. Teams will navigate through rounds of strategic trading, utilizing initial investments to buy and trade shares in traditional formats. Teams must react to dynamic news, maybe form cartels, and make savvy transactions to build the highest portfolio value and emerge as the ultimate winners
• The game will consist of 10 rounds of 7 minutes each and 3 minutes break after every round
• Each team will be given trading sheets and initial investment to buy shares in traditional formats from respective company counters
• Teams will have to buy a minimum number of shares of every company. In the following rounds, teams can trade shares by bidding their prices to other teams and registering their transaction at the respective company counter. The share price will change as per the last traded value of the share
• Each round will be followed by news that will affect the share prices for the next round. Trading will continue in the next round based on interpretation and reaction based on the news
• Short selling is not allowed. Teams can form cartels to manipulate the share prices
• Each team must make a minimum of 5 transactions during the game. At the end of 10 rounds, the team with the highest portfolio value will be the winner

General Guidelines:

• Each group should have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 members
• Only calculators are allowed to be used during the game
• The event will be conducted offline at IIM Jammu Jagti Campus.
• Winning teams will be awarded prizes and certificates
