Equity Utsav is an offline live trading floor simulation designed to recreate the intensity and strategy of real-world stock markets. Inspired by traditional open-outcry systems, this competition challenges participants to manage virtual capital, respond to live economic updates, and maximize returns in a high-pressure environment.
The event combines a finance-focused speaker session with an interactive stock market simulation, delivering both learning and competitive engagement within a structured 1.5–2 hour format.
Participants will experience real-time price fluctuations, sectoral trends, market shocks, and strategic trading decisions — all executed offline through a structured trading mechanism.
Eligibility:
- Open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Students from all specializations (Finance, Commerce, Engineering, Management, etc.) are eligible.
- Inter-college participation: Allowed.
- Inter-specialization teams: Allowed.
- Cross-year teams are permitted.
- Team Size: Minimum 1 member | Maximum 2 members per team.
Event Duration
Total Duration: 1.5 – 2 Hours (Offline Event)
- Speaker Session: 15–20 minutes
- Rule Briefing: 10 minutes
- Trading Simulation: 60–70 minutes
- Results & Closing: 10–15 minutes
Competition Format:
- Speaker Session: A finance expert or industry professional will deliver a short session on trading psychology, risk management, and market behavior.
- Trading Floor Simulation: Each team will be allotted equal virtual capital at the start of the event.
The simulation will consist of three trading rounds:
- Round 1 – Stable Market Phase
Introduction to trading mechanics and price movements. - Round 2 – Volatility Phase
Market shocks, sectoral news, policy changes, and company announcements impact stock prices. - Round 3 – High-Pressure Finale
Rapid price fluctuations and surprise events test strategic decision-making under time constraints.
Participants will submit buy and sell orders using official order slips. Prices will be updated periodically based on simulated market conditions. A live leaderboard will track portfolio valuations.

The team with the highest portfolio value at market close will be declared the winner.
Rules:
- All teams will receive equal starting virtual capital.
- Trading will only be allowed during active trading windows.
- Orders must be submitted on official order slips; verbal orders will not be accepted.
- Orders once submitted cannot be modified.
- Short selling or leverage trading will not be permitted unless announced during the event.
- Any malpractice or violation of rules will lead to disqualification.
- The organizing committee’s decision will be final and binding.
