Flipkart WiRED 5.0: Stages and Timelines
Virtual Kick-Off Event
Flipkart will host a virtual kick-off event before the Round 1 (Quiz) on 20th August 2021. The event will include an insightful session with Flipkart leaders.
Round 1 (Qualifier): Online Quiz - Business Track
Registered teams will take a quiz of 30 mins. It will be a mix of caselets, picture based and theme based questions testing the domain knowledge of the students. Each team will appear for the quiz based on the track chosen during registration.
Round 1 (Qualifier): Online Quiz - Supply Chain Track
Registered teams will take a quiz of 30 mins. It will be a mix of caselets, picture based and theme based questions testing the domain knowledge of the students. Each team will appear for the quiz based on the track chosen during registration.
Round 1 (Qualifier): Online Quiz - HR Track
Registered teams will take a quiz of 30 mins. It will be a mix of caselets, picture based and theme based questions testing the domain knowledge of the students. Each team will appear for the quiz based on the track chosen during registration.
Round 2: Case Study Challenge
All the qualifying teams of each track across campuses from round 1 will move to round 2. There will be 3 case studies launched in the domains of Business, Supply Chain and HR. Each team will submit the solution based on the track chosen during registration.
Round 3: Virtual Semi-Finals (Detailed PPT Submission)
Post the case study challenge round, Flipkart will evaluate all the submitted ideas to identify the top teams from each track which will proceed into round 3 – the semi-finals. The teams will have to submit a detailed PPT of max 8 slides (excluding cover slides and annexures) with scalability and implementation of ideas proposed.
Round 4: Down to the WiRED (Virtual Grand Finale)
Details of the grand finale will be shared subsequently with the finalists of each track. The finalists will present to a panel of eminent leaders from Flipkart. The panel will evaluate the performance based on the 15 minute presentation + 15 minute Q&A.

Flipkart’s flagship B-School case competition WiRED vouches for a spectacular return with its fifth edition. The theme for WiRED 5.0 is "Your Ideas. MAXIMISED" which vividly spells out the opportunity presented before every B schooler to think beyond the horizon of the status quo and maximize his/her chances of cracking the problem statements to propose a long-lasting change in the Indian e-commerce landscape. Since its inception in 2007, Flipkart has been known to be a market disruptor. It is India’s leading e-commerce marketplace that offers more than 100 million products to 150 million customers. In its quest for innovation, Flipkart launched WiRED to give B-school students a first-hand experience of challenges in the Indian e-commerce ecosystem. In its fifth edition this year, the competition is taking a huge leap in its reach by launching the event PAN India across all B schools of the country. This will enable every B-Schooler in the country to participate in a level playing field. Students can choose between challenges from three specific domains- Business, HR, and Supply Chain. The challenges are designed to not only test their technical knowledge and logical reasoning but also how creatively can they solve a problem. The competition is open for both the batches - PGP-1 and PGP-2 and will run over 4 phases – Qualifier round, Case Study Submission, Semi-Finals, and the Grand Finale. WiRED 5.0 is also a golden gateway for students to get placed at Flipkart! Here's all you need to know about it, and how you can participate.
Eligibility: Flipkart WiRED 5.0 competition is open to all the B-Schools in India offering a two-year full-time flagship PGP/MBA program. It is open for both 1st and 2nd-year students.
Team Formation Guidelines:
- In order to participate in WiRED, students must form and register in teams of 3 members.
- Only students from the same campus can form a team.
- Students can only form teams within their own batches (PGP-1 students will form teams within their own PGP-1 batch and PGP-2 batches will form teams within their own PGP-2 batch).
- Cross-specialization teams can participate.
- After the creation of teams, each team must register on the Dare2Compete after thoroughly reading through the rules and guidelines.
- Each team will have to choose the track (Business, Supply Chain, HR) while registering.
- Any changes to the team constitution will not be allowed post-registration.
Construct(Stages):
Flipkart WiRED 5.0 is designed to test you on your technical knowledge, creativity, analysis, expression, and presentation skills through a set of 4 clearly determined rounds.

Round 1 (Qualifier): Virtual Kick-Off Event & Quiz
- Flipkart will host a virtual kick-off event before round 1 (Quiz) on 20th August 2021.
- Registered teams will take a quiz of 30 mins. It will be a mix of caselets, picture-based, and theme-based questions testing the domain knowledge of the students. Each team will appear for the quiz based on the track chosen during registration.
- Note: Only the team leader, who registered the team, will be allowed to participate in the qualifier.
Round 2: Case Study Challenge
- All the qualifying teams of each track across campuses from round 1 will move to round 2.
- There will be 3 case studies launched in the domains of Business, Supply Chain, and HR. Each team will submit the solution based on the track chosen during registration.
- Any attempt to submit a different case solution or multiple case solutions may lead to disqualification of the team at the discretion of Flipkart.
- The solutions must be uploaded on the Dare2Compete platform in the following submission format:
- All teams must submit their idea(s) in the form of a presentation with not more than 3 slides (excluding the title slide).
- The format of the presentation will be shared by the Flipkart WiRED team - it will be enclosed with the case study.
Round 3: Virtual Semi-Finals
Post the case study challenge round, Flipkart will evaluate all the submitted ideas to identify the top teams from each track which will proceed into round 3 – the semi-finals. The details of round 3 are as follows:
- A brief about the round will be shared with the qualifying teams separately.
- The teams moving to the semi-finals will have to submit a detailed PPT of max 8 slides (excluding cover slides and annexures) with scalability and implementation of ideas proposed.
- All supporting information/graphs/datasheets/other aids can be clubbed as annexures along with the submission.
- These teams will then present to a panel consisting of senior leaders from Flipkart.
- The panel will evaluate the performance based on the 10-minute presentation + 10 minutes of Q&A.
- The top 4 teams from each track will move to the grand finale.
Round 4: Down to the WiRED (Virtual Grand Finale)
- Details of the grand finale will be shared subsequently with the finalists of each track.
- The finalists will present to a panel of eminent leaders from Flipkart.
- The panel will evaluate the performance based on the 15-minute presentation + 15 minutes of Q&A.
- Results will be declared and the national winners and runners-up (from each domain) will be rewarded in a glittering ceremony virtually.
Evaluation Criteria:
- Evaluations for each domain would be done separately.
- The general parameters will be:
- Depth of analysis: The depth of customer/product analysis that you have conducted which best diagnoses a problem and helps in identifying a solution. Your proposals will be assessed on the qualitative and quantitative aspects that you cover as a part of your submission.
- Originality and innovation: Flipkart has been a pioneer in coming with unprecedented solutions for Indian customers and we expect you to do the same. While we appreciate the fact that you will be conducting benchmarking exercises for the project, the solutions should also be original and innovative enough to be potentially launched for the Flipkart customers.
- Viability and implementability: Good ideas don’t mean anything unless they can be translated into action. Make sure you include the granular details of how you plan to execute your ideas in your final proposal.
- Presentation skills: In Flipkart, if you can convince your stakeholders of your idea, you are ready to roll. That's exactly what we expect of you when you step in front of the panel. So, make sure your pitch is focused and on point.
Rewards:
Nothing can discount the sheer excitement to work on a live problem case from India’s biggest e-commerce ecosystem.
- National Winners will be given Electronic Gift Vouchers worth INR 2,00,000.
- Runners-Up will be given Electronic Gift Vouchers worth INR 50,000.
- Selected students will also get an opportunity to bag Pre-Placement Interviews (PPIs) from Flipkart at the semi-finale round.
- The prizes are for each of the three domains - Business, Supply Chain & HR.
