Case Release

The cases will be mailed to the registered mail id at the specified time on 10th August. They will be required to work together as a team on it. No pitching is required in this round.

International Heats

In this round, all the qualifying teams will present their ideas to renowned judges via online mode. There will be no restriction for all the team members to be physically present at one location. This round too is eliminator round, ie: only the qualifying teams will advance to the next rounds. Further information will be shared with the qualifying teams.

International Finals

This round will be a vigorous online face-off between all the qualifying teams in front of a reputed judging panel, The results of which will determine the GMCC 2020 champion across continents. Further information ie: Timings according to AEST will be communicated with the qualifying teams.

Ever wondered what it takes to solve microfinance issues for live clients? How exhilarating it must be to actually have your solutions listened to and implemented? To use your talent and skills for clients across the globe.

The Global Microfinance Case Competition is an annual competition organized and hosted by the Melbourne Microfinance Initiative with the Office of International Programmes, Shri Ram College Of Commerce, as India outreach partner for GMCC 2020.

The GMCC provides an engaging platform for students to utilize their analytical skills, tasking them with developing innovative solutions to pressing issues faced by microfinance and NFP institutions across the world. The multidimensional nature of the competition forces participants to consider the real-world implications of their recommendations and resultant effects on the targeted communities. What sets the GMCC apart from other case competitions is that it is a live case based on a real MMI client. As a result, competitors are granted the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on an array of organizations committed to social impact.

In this event, the participants will be asked to create and propose real solutions to real microfinance problems faced by our clients and leave a genuine lasting impact.

Format of the Competition:

The competition will be held in the form of three rounds:

  1. First round will be a screening round where the participating teams will send their presentation to be evaluated by our judges. This round does not require any form of live pitching. The mode of submission for this round will be mentioned in the email to the respective participants.
  2. Second round will be a pitch in front of the judges for the qualifying teams in the form of International heats. The time for the same will be decided later based on AEST.
  3. The third round will be in the form of international finals. All qualifying teams from round 2 will receive an extended case on 28th August, the submissions of which will be on the 5th of September. The competition will culminate on the 7th of September 2020 with international presentations.

Rules:

  1. Rules and mode of submission of the presentation will be e-mailed to the registered participants.
  2. All times associated with the case will be according to the Australian time zone, unless IST is specified, The conversion to Indian Standard Time will be the responsibility of the participating teams.
  3. All teams must adhere to submission guidelines according to the Australian Standard Time ie: AEST
  4. Cross-college teams within India are allowed

Prizes:

  1. $1000 AUD as the first prize
  2. $250 AUD as the second prize
  3. Actual amount in INR will be subject to conversion rates at the time of distribution of prize money
  4. Certificate for participation will be given via online mode
