International Quant Championship 2019: Stages and Timelines
Stage 1 (University level)
Teams within individual universities will compete against one another.
Stage 2 (National/Regional level)
The leading university teams from Stage 1 will compete in a qualifying round and a final round against one another to determine the team that will represent their country or region in the global finals.
Stage 3 (Global level)
The winning national and regional teams may be invited to compete in-person during a two-day live competition to be held in Singapore or via other means (such as video conference).
All that you need to know about International Quant Championship 2019
The IQC is an excellent opportunity for you to apply classroom knowledge to develop and backtest predictive mathematical models (alphas), employing historical financial market data.
Start by forming a team of one to six members to represent your university and country. You will be using our web-based market simulation platform, WebSim, to develop and backtest predictive mathematical models (alphas).
The three-stage competition runs from March to September 2019. Register at worldquantvrc.com, add your team and sign up for the Virtual Boot Camp to get ready to compete.
Participants who score well in the IQC may be considered for consulting or employment opportunities to join WorldQuant’s global team. After the 2018 IQC finals, we offered five full-time positions and 15 internships worldwide. Select members from teams advancing to the global finals may be invited to play chess against World Champion Magnus Carlsen during an exhibition in Singapore.
The competition will take place on WorldQuant’s intuitive, web-based simulation platform, WebSim, an online environment where you can translate your ideas for predicting the movement of financial markets.
The International Quant Championship builds on the many competitions the WorldQuant Virtual Research Center has hosted over the past five years.
To help participants get started in this year’s IQC, we are offering an educational series called the Virtual Boot Camp — eight different online courses that cover both basic and advanced topics in quantitative finance.
