National Mathematics Olympiad 2025: Stages and Timelines

Preliminary Round
The Preliminary Round will be a 60-minute eliminative quiz consisting of 40 questions. Participants will face a mix of topics, including Algebra, Geometry, Logical Reasoning and some other topics. The round is designed to test speed, accuracy, and fundamental mathematical skills. Top-performing participants will advance to the Final Round.
Final Round for class 9 and 10
The Final Round will be a 60-minute quiz with 40 questions, designed separately for Class 9-10 and Class 11-12 students to suit their respective levels. For Class 9-10, all 40 questions will be mandatory, covering topics like algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, and logical reasoning, focusing on foundational mathematics and problem-solving skills. For Class 11-12, the first 20 questions will be mandatory for all participants, assessing core mathematical concepts. Afterward, participants can choose to attempt either the Core Mathematics section, which includes advanced topics like calculus, number theory, and combinatorics, or the Applied Mathematics section, which focuses on real-life applications such as statistics, probability, and financial mathematics.
Marking scheme : +1 for correct answer and -0.25 for incorrect answer.
Only for 11-12th class category
Other than common questions you must attempt only one round, either from Core Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. Attempting both or failing to attempt either will result in disqualification.
