Null Point CTF
SRM University (SRMAP), Andhra Pradesh
All that you need to know about Null Point CTF
Event Description:
NullPoint CTF is an intensive cybersecurity competition designed to introduce students to the world of ethical hacking, penetration testing, and security challenges. The event combines educational workshop sessions with a competitive CTF (Capture The Flag) environment where participants solve security challenges across multiple domains.
Capture The Flag competitions are a popular format in cybersecurity where participants solve challenges to find hidden ”flags” (text strings) that prove they’ve successfully exploited vulnerabilities or solved security puzzles. This hands-on approach helps students develop practical security skills highly valued in today’s tech industry.
The event will begin with a comprehensive 3-hour workshop covering CTF fundamentals, challenge types, tools, methodologies, and solving strategies. Following this, participants will compete in a 12-hour mini hackathon where they’ll apply their knowledge to solve real-world inspired security challenges.
Event Structure:
Phase 1: Workshop Session (3 Hours)
Introduction to CTF Competitions:
- What is CTF and its importance in cybersecurity
- Types of CTF formats: Jeopardy-style vs Attack-Defense
- Real-world applications and career opportunities
CTF Challenge Categories Overview:
- Web Exploitation: SQL injection, XSS, authentication bypass
- Cryptography: Classical and modern encryption, hash cracking
- Reverse Engineering: Binary analysis, decompilation techniques
