Ops-Sim 2.0 : An Operations Simulation Challenge

Club Optimus - The Operations Club of the Institute of Management, Nirma University presents Ops-Sim, An Operations Simulation Challenge in association with the CESIM-Business Simulation Platform. This Operations simulation game will provide hands-on, risk-free learning experiences, and promote strategic thinking, teamwork, and data-driven decision-making. It offers realistic scenarios, helping individuals and organizations enhance operational efficiency, adaptability, and competitive advantage while minimizing costs and risks.

CESIM is an online business simulation and experiential learning tool where participants can learn by playing and running a virtual business in a realistic environment. It puts your theory into practice gives insights about real-life business and gives you a chance to create a business model that can compete and survive in the industry.

Rules:

• Each team should have a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 participants.
• There is no limit on the number of teams that can participate from a single institute.
• Only students from the first and second year of the MBA program can be part of the event.
• All team members must be from the same institute.
• The decisions regarding the eligibility and team qualification will be taken by Club Optimus.
• The format and rules of events are subject to change before the start of the event.
• All the team members will be able to play Round 1, and the best out of the three scores will be taken into consideration.

General Instructions: 

A 3-round simulation-based game where you will be asked to play a microsimulation round on the value chain and a supply chain simulation round.

Your decision-making skills will be tested for the company and the given situations related to operations, supply chains, and supply chain management.

Game Details:

• Round 1:
• Value Chain Micro-Simulation: This round will be based on the value chain decision-making and production and logistics-related decisions.
• The access and credentials to the micro-simulation platform will be provided to the team members before 4:00 PM, 03.02.2025 through the mail.
• Teams must complete the game within the stipulated time of 8 hours.
• The round will be live on 03.02.2025, between 4:00 PM - 11:59 PM IST.
• Every member can play this Round individually and the best score will be selected out of all the members.
• Teams will be shortlisted for round 2 based on their scores in this round.
• Results will be declared on 04.02.2025 by 6:00 PM IST.
• Selected teams will be informed via email.
• Round 2:
• Operations and Supply Chain Firm Simulation:
• The selected teams will receive access and credentials to the Round 2 simulation platform by 10 AM, 05.02.2025 through the mail.
• Round 2 will consist of 2 sub-rounds.
• The 1^st sub-round will start at 10:00 AM, 05.02.2025, and will conclude at 11:59 PM, 07.02.2025.
• Each team needs to submit their decisions on the simulation platform before the round ends.
• The 2nd sub-round will start at 11:59 PM, 07.02.2025, and will conclude at 11:59 PM, 08.02.2025.
• Results will be declared on 09.02.2025 by 10:00 AM IST.
• Round 3:
• Presentation Round:
• The teams qualified for finals will receive a mail for the final round.
• The finalists will have to prepare a presentation consisting of 5 slides (Introduction and annexure excluded from the count) keeping in mind that the presentation must not last more than 10 minutes.
• The teams are expected to include the strategy behind their decisions, concepts of operations, and supply chain applied during the simulation like demand forecasting, lean management, etc.  
• Teams will have to prepare the final presentations between 09.02.2025, 10:00AM and 10.02.2025, 6:00 PM.
• The teams will have to submit the presentations alongside any other data analysis file. The link for the same will be provided later.
• The naming convention for the presentation file should be in the following format: "Team Name_College Name".
• The final presentations will take place on 11^th February. The details regarding the time will be provided later.

 
The final presentation will be held on 11th February online in front of Judges. (Online mode)

Result Declaration: The winners will be declared on 14th February; the top 3 teams will get prizes worth Rs 5000,3000,2000 respectively along with certificates while Round-2 qualified teams will get participation certificates.
