First Preliminary Round: Online Quiz (Engineering Track)
All registered teams from both tracks will have to play the online quiz round. All team members will attempt the quiz individually.

All registered teams from both tracks will have to play the online quiz round. All team members will attempt the quiz individually.
Second Preliminary Round (Engineering Track): Online Coding Challenge
All shortlisted teams from engineering colleges need to work on 2 online coding challenges in one sitting of 60 minutes, during the specified window.
Second Preliminary Round (Business Track): Online Simulation Challenge
All shortlisted teams from B-Schools need to play the simulation game in this round. Teams will have to cross different levels to solve real-life challenges and race to the top of the leaderboard.
Executive Summary Submission Round (Business Track)
Shortlisted teams will have to submit an executive summary of their proposed solution in PPT format.
Executive Summary + Product Demo Video Submission Round (Engineering Track)
The shortlisted teams from the engineering track need to submit the following: Executive Summary + Product Demo Video and GitHub Code.
Detailed Presentation Submission Round (Business Track)
The shortlisted teams from the Executive Summary Submission Round will need to submit a detailed presentation for the Virtual Presentation Round.
Virtual Presentation Round (Business Track)
Shortlisted teams will present their ideas virtually to the Senior Management of Optum.
Grand Finale
The top 12 teams (6 from the Business Track and 6 from the Engineering Track) will compete for the winning title in the Grand Finale.
All that you need to know about Optum Stratethon - Season 3
Team Formulation:
- A team shall consist of 2-3 members, one of whom would be the team leader, and shall register either for the Engineering track or Business track.
- All members of a team should be from the same institute.
- Cross-year teams are not allowed.
- One student cannot be a part of more than one team.
- Only full-time post-graduate and executive MBA students and undergraduate engineering students can participate in Optum Stratethon - Season 3.
- Undergraduate business school students are not eligible to participate.
- There is no restriction on the number of teams from an institute.
Competition Structure and Details:
First Preliminary Round: Online Quiz (Both Tracks):
- All registered teams from both tracks will have to play the online quiz round.
- All team members may attempt the quiz individually. Though it is not mandatory for all the members to take the assessment. The final score of the team will be the average score of all the team members who took the assessment. Example: If only one team member played, then the team score will be of that team member. If two team members played, one got 10 and the other got 20, then the team score will be 15 (average of 10 and 20).
- It will be based on critical thinking for B-School students and online computer fundamentals for E-School students.
- The quiz window will be 6 hours and have to be completed in one go.
- The quiz window will begin from 12:00 PM, 23rd October 2021.
Second Preliminary Round (Engineering Track): Online Coding Challenge:
- Shortlisted teams will have to code their way through 2 online coding challenges within 60 minutes.
- The task needs to be completed within a window of 3 hours.
- The online coding challenge will begin at 12:00 PM, 25th October 2021.
- The challenge needs to be completed in one sitting, i.e., as soon as you start it, you'll have to finish the task before the time runs out.
Second Preliminary Round (Business Track): Online Simulation Challenge:
- Shortlisted teams will have to cross different levels to solve real-life challenges and race to the top of the leaderboard.
- The simulation round will be activated at 4:00 PM, 25th October 2021.
- The task needs to be completed within a window of 8 hours.
- The challenge needs to be completed in one sitting, i.e., as soon as you start it, you'll have to finish the task before the time runs out i.e. in 60 minutes duration.
Wildcard Round:
- The selected teams will have to create a 1-minute video or a poster depicting “Efficient disposal of healthcare wastage to promote Environmental responsibility” and upload it on LinkedIn.
- The window to create the content will be 26th October 2021 – 30th October 2021.
- The wild card round will be live from 30th October 2021 - 2nd November 2021.
- The Team Leader will take the screenshot of the post and share it with us over the email before 7 PM on 3rd November 2021 (All entries after 7 PM will be disqualified).
- The teams with the maximum number of likes will be shortlisted for Round 2.
Wildcard Round Winners:
- Business Track: Team Kotler Army - Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad
- Engineering Track: Team BEE U - KL University
Executive Summary Submission Round (Engineering Track):
- Shortlisted teams from the previous rounds will have to build executive summaries for their solution as per the problem statement.
- Teams need to submit the following two things: PPT (in the prescribed format attached with the case study), explaining the idea and the solution; a 7-minute product video and GitHub source code, demonstrating the detailed idea.
- The last day to submit entries is 18th November 2021, 06:00 AM IST.
- Teams will be able to view and change their submissions anytime before the deadline.
Executive Summary Submission Round (Business Track):
- Shortlisted teams will have to submit an executive summary of their proposed solution in PPT format.
- The last day to submit entries is 11th November 2021, 06:00 AM IST.
- Teams are requested to upload their entries a few hours before the deadline to avoid high traffic closer to the deadline.
- Teams will be able to view and change their submissions anytime before the deadline.
Virtual Presentation Round (Business Track):
- Shortlisted teams from the previous round will present their solutions virtually to the senior management of Optum.
- Each team will be provided 8 minutes for the presentation followed by 7 minutes for Q&A.
- All the relevant details will be shared with the shortlisted teams via email.
Mentorship Period (Both Tracks):
- There will be 12 National Finalists, 6 teams per track, from the previous round moving ahead to the Mentorship Period and the Grand Finale.
- Teams will be assigned one mentor respectively.
- Every team will get an opportunity to connect with their mentor for an hour a few days prior to the Grand Finale.
- This will help the teams to further improvise and shape up their final presentations.
Grand Finale (Both Tracks):
- The National Finale will be held virtually on 8th December 2021 (tentatively).
- The National Finalists will get a chance to present to the Senior Leadership team.
- Teams will be given 8 minutes to present followed by 7 minutes of Q&A.
- Further details of the grand finale round will be disclosed closer to the event.
Rewards & Prizes:
- The regional winners from the Business and Engineering track will get prize money worth $6700 each.
- The regional runners-up from the Business and Engineering track will get prize money worth $3000 each.
- The finalists to bag Pre-Placement Interviews (*subject to T&C) at Optum.
- All college winners to receive certificates.
- Strength in Numbers Award for 1 college in each country with the most number of teams that register in Optum Stratethon - Season 3.
- Audience Choice Award for the most popular choice of participating team in the 1st round of the Grand Finale.
- Star of the Show Award for the best presenter from each track in the 1st round of the Grand Finale.
- Living Our Values Award for the team who present their case study showcasing Optum Values.
