Product Teardown - Case Competition: Stages and Timelines
Product Management Quiz
This is a preliminary round and will be an online quiz consisting of multiple-choice questions from the world of product management. There will be 20 questions that need to be answered in a duration of 30 minutes.
Case Study
Selected teams from Round 1 will be given a case study. The participants will have to don the hat of a product manager and come up with solutions for the given business problem. Submission format and details will be mentioned in the case file.
Online Presentations
Selected teams from Round 2 will get a chance to present their solutions to a panel of judges from PM School. The presentations will happen over a Zoom call.
All that you need to know about Product Teardown - Case Competition
Novus: The Product Management Club of IIM Visakhapatnam in association with PM School brings to you “Product Teardown”, an opportunity for you to think and execute like a Product Manager.
Product Teardown is a product critique concept. The participants would be provided with a problem statement within a product. The expectation would be to provide solutions to the given problem by suggesting improvements to the product that would help achieve the objectives and create metrics that help to gauge whether the results are attained.
What's the structure (stages) & the timelines?
- First is an elimination round, participants are requested to register in teams and take part in the online quiz.
- Shortlisted Teams will compete further in a case study round. Teams will submit their presentation by the deadlines.
- Shortlisted Teams will be required to present their final submission online.
Timeline of the Event:
- 03rd January 2022, 22:00 - 11th January 2022, 20:00 : Registration
- 12th January 2022, 21:00-22:00: Online Quiz
- 13th January 2022, 23:59: Case Study Release
- 21st January 2022, 23:59: Case Study Submission Deadline
- 26th January 2022, 14:00: Online Presentation (Final Round)
Rules:
- Each team should have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 participants.
- There is no limit on the number of teams that can participate from a single institute, however, no student from an institute can be part of more than one team from the same institute.
- Students across the first and second years of the flagship programs can be part of one team.
- Modification of the team composition or team details after the first round of submissions is not allowed.
- Any deviation from the above will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team.
- All decisions regarding eligibility and final judgment shall rest with the organizing team.

About Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Visakhapatnam
