Quality Redesign Challenge: Stages and Timelines
Round 1: Online Quiz
Objective:
To evaluate basic knowledge of quality thinking, user-centred design, and system simplification.
Format:
Timed MCQ quiz (20 questions | 20 minutes)
Process:
- Register you team (same institution)
- Teams must complete the 20-minute MCQ quiz within a 6-hour time window (between 5:00 PM–11:00 PM).
- Participant can start anytime but must finish within 20 minutes once begun.
- Top 30 teams will qualify for Round 2.
Note: More details and competition's T&C will be shared separately with Round 2 and Round 3 participants.
Round 2 : Submission Round
Propose a new version of your chosen product/process/service with better structure and experience. Submit the PPT(max 6 slides) which should contain :
- User Research Conducted: Briefly describe how you understood concerns w.r.t your chosen product/process/service.
- Problem Statement: Clearly articulate the specific issue you're addressing.
- Proposed Solution: Explain your idea or concept – improving the existing scenario.
- Pre & Post Analysis: Describe differences between the original and redesigned version.
- Value Addition: List measurable benefits.
Top 3 teams will be selected for the finale at BML Munjal University, Gurgaon.
Round 3: Live Showcase
Present the improved system to the jury and explain its impact. Format: 10-12 min walkthrough & 3-5 min Q&A
All that you need to know about Quality Redesign Challenge
This competition invites teams to reimagine everyday products, services, or processes from the ground up - making them simpler, efficient, and effective. This challenge invites participants to rethink and improve an existing product, process, or service by applying innovative, user-centric, and sustainable design principles. The goal is to enhance usability, efficiency, customer satisfaction, or cost-effectiveness, thereby creating real-world impact.
Categories: Participants can choose to work in any one of the following domains:
- Product Redesign – Enhance functionality, usability, or sustainability of a product.
- Process Redesign – Improve efficiency, reduce waste, or simplify workflows in operations or business processes.
- Service Redesign – Improve customer experience, accessibility, or delivery mechanisms of a service.
Who can Participate:
- Open to Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), and PhD students from any stream (Management, Data Science, Engineering, Social Sciences, etc.).
- You can participate in a team of a maximum of 2 members (all from the same institution)
- A team can have one faculty mentor from their institution as their 2nd member
Facilities for Finalists:
- Travel reimbursement (fixed amount), boarding and lodging for the student and participating faculty member (if any), and mentoring the finalists.
- University transport and on-campus meals.
Few Guidelines:
- Original ideas only; no plagiarism will be tolerated
- Cross-disciplinary teams are encouraged
- All rounds are eliminatory and independently judged
- The judges’ decision will be final
- Faculty’s Role (Optional): The team with faculty can take their support as a mentor, who can offer feedback and validation on their redesigned system.
- The top 3 teams will be selected for the finale at BML Munjal University, Gurgaon.
