Rebuild ESP RainMaker – Power the Future of SDRB Smart Homes

SDRB Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a leading smart home device startup, invites students, developers, and innovators to participate in the “Rebuild ESP RainMaker – Power the Future of SDRB Smart Homes” challenge. This is a unique product engineering competition where participants will replicate and improve upon Espressif’s open-source ESP RainMaker platform.

Participants will build a full-stack smart home IoT system from scratch – including firmware for ESP32-based smart switchboards, a self-hosted backend cloud system with MQTT and REST APIs, and custom-branded mobile apps for both Android and iOS platforms. This challenge offers a real-world opportunity to work on a complete end-to-end product that could be used by thousands of users.

Rules and Guidelines:

• Teams of 1 to 4 members are allowed.
• Inter-college and inter-specialization teams are allowed.
• Open to undergraduates, postgraduates, recent graduates, and independent developers.
• All submissions must be original. Open-source components are allowed but must be credited.
• Code must be submitted through GitHub along with proper documentation.
• Teams must submit a video demo and deployment guide.
• Shortlisted teams will undergo a final interview round.

Challenge Format:

• Registration & Idea Submission: Teams share their initial approach, tech stack, and understanding.
• Development Phase: 3–4 weeks to build the solution, including firmware, backend, and mobile apps.
• Final Evaluation: Top teams present their solution live and may be offered internships or job opportunities.

• No restrictions on discipline or institution.
