All that you need to know about Robo Wars
Welcome to Robo War, a team-based event organized by the Society of Robotics at DTU (SR-DTU) as part of INVICTUS'24. This intense 1v1 battle tournament will follow a round-robin-based system, where teams compete against each other with their remote-controlled robots. It's a thrilling event that combines strategy, engineering, and combat prowess, attracting participants from various institutes.

- Venue: TnP Ground Floor
- Date: 11 February, 2024 | 2 PM to 4 PM
- There are no Screening Rounds.
Event Description:
- Robo War is a team-based competition where teams compete in 1v1 battles. The tournament follows a round-robin-based system, providing participants with the opportunity to showcase the combat capabilities of their robots.
Specifications of the Bot:
- The bot should fit within dimensions of 80cm x 80cm x 80cm (Length, Breadth, Height).
- The weight of the bot should not exceed 15 kg.
- Wired or wireless control connectivity is allowed, with a wired bot requiring a wire length of more than 2m.
- Each round has a total duration of 3 minutes.
- Bots must remain within the boundaries of the playing field.
Task:
- Design and construct a remote-controlled robot capable of participating in a tournament against other robots.
Design Specifications:
- Specifications include size constraints, weight limits, and control requirements.
Specifications:
- Bots should fit in an 80cmx80cmx80cm box.
- The weight of the machine should not exceed 15 Kg with a 5% tolerance.
- Robots with pneumatic or hydraulic mechanisms or electric lifters are allowed.
Robot Control Requirements:
- Control must be exhibited in overall functions, with the ability to remotely disable or override autonomous functions.
- Wireless remotes must have binding capability between transmitters and receivers.
Battery and Power:
- Electric power only, with specific voltage limits; ≤52 V.
- On-board batteries must be sealed, immobilized-electrolyte types.
Pneumatics:
- Robots can use pressurized non-flammable gases, with specified pressure limits.
Hydraulics:
- Robots can use non-inflammable liquid to actuate hydraulic devices.
Weapon Systems:
- Various weapon systems are allowed, with specific restrictions on certain types.
Competition Rules and Specifications:
- Team Specifications:
- A team may consist of a maximum of 6 participants.
- Match Duration and Type:
- Matches consist of 3 minutes of active fight time, exclusive of time-outs.
- Match Frequency:
- Teams are allowed 20 minutes to prepare for the next match.
- Criteria for Victory:
- A robot is declared victorious if its opponent is immobilized.
- Various conditions for declaring a robot immobile or unsafe are specified.
- Safety Rules:
- Compliance with all event rules is mandatory.
- Specific safety rules are outlined, including battery protection and activation/deactivation procedures.
Arena Specifications:
- The battle area is defined within polycarbonate walls, with specific dimensions of 15ft x 15ft x 12ft (Length, Breadth, Height). The arena is protected on four sides by 4mm bulletproof polycarbonate walls.
