All that you need to know about Robostrike
Introduction: ‘Every strike brings you closer to the next home-run’
TECHNOVANZA 2022-23 presents to you the most eccentric and enigmatic Robo event
‘Robostrike’. We at Technovanza VJTI understand the Air-Hockey enthusiast residing inside
you and we know for a fact that you have a deep love for robotics in your heart. Hence we
went forward and integrated 2 of your favourite acts ‘Air Hockey’ and ‘Robotics’ together.
So Are you ready to embrace your robotic skills because we surely are eager to witness the
fire you will bring to the arena. Hard work defines success. We've heard this line a thousand
times, now it's time to bring this to action. So buckle up and get ready for the showtime!
Team Specifications:
- There can be a maximum of 4 members per team.
- Not more than 2 members of each team must be present at a time in the arena.
- One member will be the controller of the bot and the other will hold the wire.
- Both the controller and the wire holder cannot be changed.
Gameplay:
- The gameplay is divided into three stages. Each team has to win the first stage to qualify for
the second stage and so on.
Round 1:
- It is a 1 vs. 1 game i.e Dark Blue team vs. Sky Blue team.
- The arena consists of 2 dark blue slits, 2 sky blue slits, 2 black slits, 6 dark blue
coins, 6 sky blue coins and 3 black coins. - The main motive of the game is to slide their coins into the slits to earn maximum
points. - Initially, both bots will be placed at the start position.
- There are 3 black activator coins.
- Only black slits are activated at the start of the game & neither dark blue nor sky blue
slits are activated. To score points the slit must be activated, if coins are placed in the
slit without activating, points won’t be considered for that coin. - When the black activator coin is placed in the activated black slit, then the black activator coin and the bots will come to their initial position and the game proceeds further.
- When an activator coin is put in deactivated dark blue or sky blue slits, then that specific slit will be activated, only after that teams will get points for dark blue and sky blue coins.
- The coins which will be placed in black slits will give half points to the team, while the coins which will be placed in dark blue or sky blue slits will give points assigned to the coin.
- The coins will be placed on the board as shown in the view.
- Robots can handle only one coin at a time.
- A team can use any coin and can place it in any slit.
- A coin doesn’t have allotted points but the slit in which it is placed decides the points.
- If both the bots approach the coin at the same time then the robot displacing the coin first will get access to the coin and the other robot will have to move back to its initial position as per directions of the event manager.
- The duration of the game is 1 minute and 30 seconds.
- The timer would be stopped while resetting the bots to their initial position.
- Bots cannot push or pull the other bot.
- Scores will be calculated after the completion of the match
Round 2:
- The arena consists of 2 dark blue slits, 2 sky blue slits, 2 black slits, 6 dark blue coins,
6 sky blue coins, 3 activator coins and 2 flip coins. - The function of activator coins is the same as in round 1.
- here is a peculiar coin, the FLIP coin. The Flip coin can only be accessed by a team
after the team’s slits are filled with at least one coin of that team’s own colour. - The role of the flip coin is that when it is slid into a slit, a coin (and hence the team)
whose colour is the same as the slit’s colour, will get only half the points; and the
mismatched coin (and hence the team) will get double the points. (an example is
described in the Judging Criteria). - A team can use any coin (even his opponent’s) and place it in any slit. Even the flip
coin can be slid by a team in any holder. - If the flip coin is placed in black slits, then the flip coin and the bot will come to their
initial position and the game proceeds further.
Round 3:
- The arena consists of 2 dark blue slits, 2 sky blue slits, 2 black slits, 6 dark blue coins, 6 sky blue coins, 3 activator coins and 2 knight coins.
- The function of activator coins is the same as in round 1.
- There is a peculiar coin, the KNIGHT coin (the white coin). This knight coin can only
be accessed by a team after the team’s slits are filled with at least one coin of that
team’s own colour. - The role of the knight coin is that when it is slid into a slit, a coin (and hence the
team) whose colour is the same as the slit’s colour, will get only half the points; and
the mismatched coin (and hence the team) will not get a single point (an example is
described in the Judging Criteria). - A team can use any coin (even his opponent’s) and place it in any slit. Even the knight
coin can be slid by a team in any holder. - If a knight coin is placed in black slits, then the knight coin and the bot will come to
their initial position and the game proceeds further.
Judging Criteria: Points will be counted at the end of a match as follows -
- If a team’s coin is found in its slit, then the team will receive 20 points.
- If a team’s coin is found in the opposing team’s slit, then the team will get half of the
maximum allotted points. i.e 10 points. - Example -
- `If the dark blue team places its dark blue coin in a dark blue slit, then the dark blue
team will score 20 points. - If the dark blue team places its dark blue coin in a sky blue slit, then the dark blue
team will score 10 points. - If the dark blue team places a sky blue coin in a dark blue slit, then the sky blue team
will score 10 points. - If the dark blue team places a sky blue coin in a sky blue slit, then the sky blue team
will get 20 points. - Suppose a dark blue slit has the 2-dark blue and 1-sky blue coin, then the dark blue
team will get 40 points and the sky blue team will get 10 points. - Suppose a dark blue slit has 2-dark blue and 1-sky blue coins and the flip coin is
placed in, the dark blue team will get 20 points (half of the designated 40 points) and
the sky blue team will get 20 points. - Suppose a black slit has 2 sky blue coins and 1 dark blue coin and the flip coin is
placed in, then the sky blue team will get 20 points (half of the designated 40 points)
and the dark blue team will get 20 points. - Suppose a dark blue slit has 2-dark blue and 1-sky blue coins and the knight coin is
placed in, the dark blue team will get 20 points (half of the designated 40 points) and
the sky blue team will get 0 points. - Suppose a black slit has 2 sky blue coins and 1 dark blue coin and the knight coin is
placed in, then the sky blue team will get 20 points (half of the designated 40 points)
and the dark blue team will get 10 points (half of the designated 20 points).
- `If the dark blue team places its dark blue coin in a dark blue slit, then the dark blue
Rules:
- If a team’s robot is found damaging the arena, the team will be immediately
disqualified. - The bot can only transform to its size at the beginning. It cannot divide into multiple
separate parts. - Pulling wires to handle the bot would result in disqualification.
- A coin can only be pushed, not picked up or kicked. In any such scenario, the team
will be immediately disqualified. - In case of any disputes, the decisions of the event managers will be final.
