Rocket Launch Competition

The Astronomy Society of Ashoka University proudly presents SpaceCraft 3.0, the third edition of its annual intercollegiate astronomy fest. Scheduled for April 12th and 13th, 2025, this flagship weekend-long event celebrates the wonders of astronomy, innovation, and creativity. 

Rocket Launch is a model rocket construction and launch competition taking place on Sunday, 13th April 2025, on the Ashoka University campus.

Participants will build water-pressurized bottle rockets using basic materials provided on-site, within a 2-hour time slot (11:00 AM to 1:00 PM). The rockets will then be launched in the field between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Teams of 1-4 members will design and construct their rockets, working within a mock budget to ensure fairness. The competition involves launching the rockets from an in-house built launchpad, with teams determining the water level, air pressure, and launch angle for optimal performance.

Entries will be judged on:

• Distance of flight (from launchpad to first ground contact),
• Scientific principles underlying the design,
• Creativity and design innovation.
