An Intercollege Pitch Deck Competition is an event where aspiring entrepreneurs from different colleges or universities come together to showcase their business ideas in the form of pitch decks. A pitch deck is a presentation that typically includes slides outlining key aspects of a business idea, such as the problem it solves, the target market, the unique value proposition, the business model, financial projections, and the team behind the venture.
In an Intercollege Pitch Deck Competition, teams present their pitch decks to a panel of judges, usually consisting of industry experts, investors, and faculty members. Each team has a limited amount of time, around 5 to 10 minutes, to pitch their idea and convince the judges of its viability and potential for success.
The competition provides a platform for young entrepreneurs to gain valuable experience, receive constructive feedback, network with industry professionals, and potentially secure support for their startup ventures. It fosters a spirit of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship among students, encouraging them to transform their ideas into tangible business opportunities.
Competition Overview:
- Step 1: Review Participation Guidelines
- Before participating, it's crucial for all teams to familiarize themselves with the competition's guidelines to fully understand the criteria and processes involved.
- Step 2: Event Registration
- Interested teams must complete their registration by the early bird deadline on April 15, 2024, with a registration fee of Rs. 500 per team.
- Step 3: Submitting Your Initial Idea
- Registered teams are required to submit their preliminary business ideas in not more than 1500 words. by April 18, 2024.
- Step 4: Idea Evaluation
- A panel comprising academic and industry professionals will review the initial ideas for their innovation, completeness, and viability. The top selections will advance to the final stage, with notifications sent out.
- Step 5: Final Pitch Deck Submission
- Shortlisted teams must prepare and submit a comprehensive pitch deck by April 21, 2024, which will be presented in the final round.
- Step 6: Final Presentation and Prize Distribution
- In the concluding round, a new panel of judges, including successful entrepreneurs, business experts, and scholars, will assess the final pitch decks and business proposals for creativity and feasibility.
- The chosen teams will then pitch their ideas before this panel. Winners will be selected and awarded their prizes at this stage.
General Information:
- Participants can join the competition either individually or as part of a team, with team sizes ranging from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 5 members. Teams that combine members from different disciplines are highly recommended.
- Each team is allowed to present only one business idea. Moreover, an individual cannot be part of multiple teams.
- The business idea must be conceived during the participants' tenure at their respective colleges or universities.
- While not mandatory, participants or teams may seek guidance from advisors or coaches, who can be faculty members, business professionals, entrepreneurs, or even family members. Nonetheless, the presentation and competition participation must be conducted by the students themselves.
- Prize money will be awarded exclusively to student participants; no monetary awards will be extended to non-student participants.
Guidelines for Preparing Pitch Deck:
Each team is required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation which must include slides the following slides:
- Introduction: Briefly introduce your company and its mission statement.
- The Problem: Clearly define the problem you're solving.
- The Solution: Present your product or service as the solution to the problem.
- Market Opportunity: Size your market and identify your target audience.
- Product or Service: Show your product or service in action. Visuals and demonstrations can be effective here.
- Business Model: Explain how you plan to make money.
- Traction: Provide evidence of your product’s demand, such as sales figures, partnerships, or customer testimonials.
- Marketing and Sales Strategy: Outline how you plan to reach your customers.
- Competition: Acknowledge your competitors and explain how your solution is different or better.
- Financials Projections: Highlight key financial points such as your sales forecast, break-even analysis, and funding requirements.
- The Team: Introduce your team members and their qualifications.
Awards and Accolades:
- Entrepreneurs-in-the-making have the chance to compete for cash prizes in our Intercollege pitch deck competition.
- Finalists will deliver their presentations to a panel of judges, aiming to win Rs. 10,000 for first place, Rs. 7,500 for second place, and Rs. 5,000 for third place.
