All that you need to know about The C.F.O.
The CFO Challenge
Are you a big-picture thinker, rather than detail-oriented, outspoken rather than reserved, prefer to delegate rather than be hands-on, emphasize what gets done rather than how things are done, and make collaborative rather than unilateral decisions?
Here is an opportunity to showcase the CFO in you.
The CFO must serve as the financial authority in the organization, ensuring the integrity of fiscal data and modeling transparency and accountability. The CFO is as much a part of governance and oversight as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), playing a fundamental role in the development and critique of strategic choices. The CFO challenge is one such event in which the duties of a modern CFO, to straddle the traditional areas of financial stewardship and the more progressive areas of strategic and business leadership with direct responsibility and oversight of operations (which often includes procurement) expanding exponentially, is going to be tested.
Round 1: The Eliminator
Participation: 15 teams (2 participants per team)
The participants are required to answer 30 questions (MCQs/ Fill ups/ Word Matching). The time limit allotted is 10 minutes to answer these questions. 6 teams with the highest score would progress to the next round. In case of a tie the team that has completed the test in the least time would be considered.
Round 2: The Turnaround
Participation: 6 teams (2 participants per team)
The 6 teams that qualify for the next round have to analyse 3 case studies covering their acumen of financial knowledge as well as strategic decision making. The time limit for the entire round is 45 minutes.
The participants will have to answer the questions asked; discuss the various alternative strategies with the judges, host and the other participants present at the end of the allotted time.
Round 3: The Supremo!
Participation: 3 teams (2 participants per team)
The teams who qualify for the final round have to actually step into the shoes of a CFO and present the financials of the company to a major Stakeholder (the judge).
The qualifying teams will each be given a choice, on the basis of their ranking in the earlier round, to pick one out of the companies that will be available for analysis. The participants have to make a PowerPoint presentation on the financials and the strategic decisions of the chosen company. This will be followed by a question and answer session by the judge and the host. The participants will be judged on their presentation skills, interpretation of the data, analytical thinking, their ability to answer questions and overall basic financial knowledge.
