Case For Transformation – National Case Competition: Stages and Timelines

Round 1 – Problem Framing (2-page deck)

This round is all about clarity of thought. In just two pages, your team needs to cut through the noise and get to the heart of the challenge. Think like consultants in their first client meeting – capture the core diagnosis, highlight sharp insights, and outline a clear initial strategic direction.

The best decks will show structured thinking, clarity of narrative, and bold direction-setting, even in a short format.

Round 2 – Deep Dive (Detailed deck)

Now it’s time to prove the depth of your analysis. This round requires a comprehensive consulting-style deck that goes beyond the “what” to the “how”. Here, you’ll break the problem down using frameworks, models, and detailed strategies.

This round is where your solution is stress-tested on analytical rigor, feasibility, and impact. Judges will look for thinking that is not just smart, but also implementable.

Round 3 – The Boardroom (Presentation round)

This will be a Online round! You will see the “Enter” button here, once the round is live.

All that you need to know about Case For Transformation – National Case Competition

The Case For Transformation – National Case Competition is designed to test how future leaders think, solve, and deliver. This is not just about case cracking – it’s about tackling one of India’s biggest business problems and building solutions that can truly shape the future of careers.
India’s largest job portal is facing a paradox: students can’t find the right opportunities, recruiters can’t find the right talent, and the gap keeps widening. Your job? To step into the CEO’s shoes and design a transformation roadmap that fixes the present and builds the future.

The challenge runs across three high-intensity rounds:

  • Round 1 – Problem Framing (2-page deck): Capture the core diagnosis, sharp insights, and your initial strategic direction.
  • Round 2 – Deep Dive (Detailed deck): Break down the problem using consulting frameworks, financial models, and actionable strategies.
  • Round 3 – The Boardroom (Presentation round): Defend your recommendations live – just like a real consulting pitch to top leadership.

Competition Essentials:

  • Team Size: 2–4 members
  • Focus Areas: Student engagement, recruiter productivity, and revenue growth
  • Deliverables: Decks, models, and a final presentation
  • Evaluation: Clarity of insight, analytical depth, practicality of solutions, and storytelling impact

This challenge is your chance to go beyond classroom theory – to think like consultants, design like innovators, and present like leaders. The ideas you bring here won’t just stay on paper. They could inspire how 1.4 billion Indians connect with work and opportunity

About Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur

  • The first IIT was born in May 1950 in Hijli, Kharagpur, in the eastern part of India.
  • This is possibly one of the very few Institutions of the world that started life in a prison house.
  • Before the formal inauguration of the Institute on August 18, 1951, the present name 'Indian Institute of Technology' was adopted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
  • IIT Kharagpur, fondly referred to as IITKGP, has the largest campus among all IITs - at 2100 acres and as home to 20000 residents, it is a mini township. It is a two-hour drive from Kolkata airport, connected by National Highways and rail to Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai, with trains to and from Kolkata running throughout the day.
  • IIT Kharagpur Motto: "Yogah Karmasu Kaushalam" which literally translates to "Excellence in action is Yoga". This implies that doing your work well is (true) yoga.
