All that you need to know about Towering Triumphs
Aim:
- "Towering Triumphs" challenges participants to design and construct tall, stable towers using unconventional materials like A4 paper, spaghetti, and marshmallows. The competition emphasizes not only the height but also the weight-bearing capacity of the towers. Participants must balance creativity with engineering principles to achieve maximum structural stability.
Competition Rules and Specifications:
General Rules:
- Team Specification:
- 1-3 members.
Round 1: Paper Tower Construction:
- Build the tallest tower using 10 A4-sized sheets of paper within 30 minutes.
- Materials Allowed:
- Scissors, strong adhesives.
- Towers will be scored based on height and weight-bearing capacity. A balance of both will determine which teams advance to Round 2.
Round 2: Marshmallow & Spaghetti Tower:
- In this round, participants work on the same structure from Round 1, but instead of using paper, they must reconstruct their towers using spaghetti sticks and marshmallows.
- The goal remains the same—to build the tallest tower capable of holding significant weight.
- Materials Allowed:
- Spaghetti sticks (for the tower structure), marshmallows (as adhesives).
Judging Criteria:
- Height of the Tower:
- Height will be measured once again.
- Weight Test:
- Similar to Round 1, the towers will undergo a weight test, and the structure that sustains the highest weight without collapsing will be declared the winner.
- Scoring:
- Teams are judged on both the height and weight-bearing capacity of their towers, with a strong emphasis on the latter.
