TEDxIISERBPR 2024: "Unveiling Scientific Chain Reaction"

This year’s theme, "Unveiling Scientific Chain Reaction", delves into the profound interconnectedness within complex systems, showcasing how minor changes can ignite ripple effects across diverse scientific fields. Our distinguished speakers, each a leader in their domain, will share their transformative insights and stories on how science drives these chain reactions and the surprising outcomes that follow.

Session 1: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM:

• Prof. Bedangadas Mohanty
  A leading Indian physicist from NISER Bhubaneswar, Prof. Mohanty has significantly advanced our understanding of the Quark Gluon Plasma and anti-particles. His roles in international collaborations at RHIC and CERN have earned him prestigious accolades, including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and Infosys Prize.
• Dr. Swati Nayak
  An esteemed agricultural scientist at IRRI, Manila, Dr. Nayak leads efforts in enhancing rice breeding and promoting sustainable agriculture. With 15 years of experience, her innovative work has been recognized with the 2023 Norman E. Borlaug Field Award for advancing climate-smart agriculture.

Session 2: 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM:

• Dr. Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo
  A leading nanomedicine expert at the Institute of Life Sciences, Dr. Sahoo develops innovative nanotechnology-based cancer therapies, merging chemistry, biology, and engineering. His work is widely recognized through numerous awards and grants.
• Dr. Vasudevan Gnana Gandhi
  A pioneer in cryogenic rocket science, Dr. Gandhi significantly advanced ISRO's space program with the VIKAS engine and GSLV booster stages. Awarded the Padma Shri in 2005, he is now Senior Vice President of Propulsion at Skyroot Aerospace and a Chief Academic Advisor.
• Prof. Pratap K. Mohanty
  A veteran marine scientist and OSD-cum-Vice Chancellor of Dharanidhar University, Prof. Mohanty is renowned for his contributions to monsoon studies and climate change research. His impactful work is supported by over 130 publications and a Commonwealth Fellowship.

Session 3: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

• Prof. Sudhir Krishna
  A Professor Emeritus at TDU and prominent scientist at NCBS, Prof. Krishna’s research spans the genetic diversity of dengue, vaccine development, and cervical cancer progression. His pioneering work in integrating biology and medicine enhances interdisciplinary research and biomedical education.
• Dr. Tirtha Pratim Das
  As the Director of the Space Science Programme at ISRO, Dr. Das oversees critical missions like Chandrayaan and the Mars Orbiter Mission. His expertise in space-borne neutral mass spectrometry and planetary exploration contributes to India’s space research and international collaborations.

Note: Due to an emergency situation, as previously mentioned, Dr. Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo will not be joining us at TEDxIISERBPR.

The travel will be arranged from IISER Berhampur Transit campus (Near Govt. ITI Berhampur) to the IISER Berhampur Permanent Campus with the timeline mentioned (The vehicle timing and instructions will be sent upon registration over mail;Time mentioned will be followed strictly, after registering you will be receiving the details of the same).
