All that you need to know about Bishop's End Game - Chess Tournament

Eligibility:

  1. Individual Participation!
  2. Team participation is not allowed.
  3. Participants must be a member at a university.
  4. Participants must be between the age of 18-25.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. The competition will be held on chess.com
  2. General rules of Chess will follow.
  3. Time Frame will be –  5+5
  4. All participants are required to comply with the measures listed below to avoid malpractices during the duration of the game:
    1. Webcam of participants will have to remain on, throughout the game
    2. All participants are required to share their screens during the duration of the game
    3. 3 warnings will be issued by the arbiter while monitoring the participants’ screens and webcams. In case more than 3 warnings are issued, participants will be disqualified.
  5. The event shall consist of preliminary stages, qualifying in which should get you to the final stages of the game (quarter-final, semi-final, and final).
  6. The preliminary stage shall be of a knockout format, in case of a tie in the knockout games, the game shall proceed in the format of Armageddon Chess.

Armageddon Chess rules are as follows:

The player with the white pieces is given five minutes on the clock. Meanwhile, the player taking the black pieces features a reduced amount of time – usually four minutes. However, the player with Black has the advantage of winning the game (and thus the match or tournament) if they can hold White to a draw. Variations change the exact amount of time given to each player, as well as whether or not a delay or increment will be used. 

Note: For your clarity, the Armageddon time in the Xenia Chess competition will be 5 minutes for white and 4 minutes for black. A toss will be done to decide which player will get which color.

All games till the semi-finals will be of a knockout format. Semi-Final will consist of a best of 3 format and the finals will be in a best of 5 format.

Final decisions on Winners will be decided by the judges and will be binding.

Non-cooperation with the Xenia Core Team will result in immediate disqualification.
