What you need to know about Director's Cut
About:
Embark on a riveting journey into cinema and moviemaking with Cinephile, the official movie club of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. This will be a part of Winnow '25, the annual fest of DoMS, NALSAR.
In today's fast-paced world, the ability to express stories visually has become a vital talent. We live in a time where capturing the essence of a moment, communicating a message, or generating emotions through short films has never been more important. Your challenge is to make a gripping short video that creates an impact, tells a riveting tale, or initiates thought-provoking conversations.
Guidelines:
- Director's Cut is an offline Short Film competition encouraging budding filmmakers to use their imagination and talents. Participants will be allowed to create a short film of 7-20 minutes that spans any genre or theme. Participants are encouraged to come to attend the event to get an overall experience of the event.
- The participants residing in Telangana are encouraged to attend the event offline, while those who live farther away can attend the event online.
- Each participant is allowed to submit only one entry.
Eligibility:
- The competition is open to all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students across India.
- Participants can either work individually or in teams of up to 4 members.
Film Duration:
- The short film's duration should be a minimum of 7 minutes and a maximum of 20 minutes, including credits.
- Films exceeding this time limit will be disqualified.
Theme and Genre:
- The no overarching theme. Participants are invited to experiment with their take on themes such as culture, art, tradition, innovation, growth, and global business strategies. Content should be appropriate and follow college guidelines.
Originality:
- All content must be original, including the plot, script, characters, and music, or necessary licenses to use copyrighted elements must be secured.
- To assure uniqueness, participants must provide raw footage along with the short film.
- Editing software of choice is allowed.
Submission:
- Films should be submitted on or before the deadline, 4th April 2025.
- The film file can be in any format and must have a clear title and credits.
Screening and Awards Ceremony:
- The selected short films will be screened on the third day of the Winnow Fest(April 6th, 2025)
- Following the screening, the winners will be announced and rewarded by the profound Judge.
- The awards would be given at the event venue.
Rights:
- The judge's decision will be the final decision.
Prizes:
- Winner- Cash Prize of 13,000 Rupees
- First Runner-up- Cash Prize of 8,000 Rupees
- Second Runner-Up- Cash Prize of 4,000 Rupees
