All that you need to know about Nrithya : Classical Solo Dance Competition

About the Event:

  • Dance is a timeless form of expression that reflects culture, discipline, and emotion.
  • Nrithya provides a solo platform for dancers to showcase the richness of Indian classical dance forms, blending technical precision with artistic storytelling.
  • Step onto the stage, embody tradition, and let your performance speak.

Rules and Regulations:

  • This is a solo dance competition; only one participant is allowed per entry.
  • The competition is open to students from all colleges, with no restriction on the number of participants per college.
  • All Indian classical dance forms are permitted. Performances must adhere to the classical style and spirit of the chosen form.
  • The duration of each performance must be between 2 and 5 minutes, including setup time.
  • Participants must report at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the event.
  • Performance slots will be allotted by the organising team on the day of the event, and their decision will be final.
  • Participants must submit their music at least one day prior to the event.
  • Music must also be provided via pen drive, CD, or email/cloud drive link at the reporting desk at least 30 minutes prior to the event. Once submitted, the music track cannot be changed.
  • Participants must carry a valid College ID or any officially recognized photo identification and present it when required.
  • The use of props involving fire, water, smoke, candles, flowers, colours (Holi), or any flammable or hazardous materials is strictly prohibited.
  • Any unsafe or inappropriate prop may lead to disqualification.
  • The registration fee is ₹300 per participant. Participation is free for NITK students.
  • Participants must maintain discipline, decorum, and a respectful attitude towards fellow competitors, judges, and organizers.
  • Any form of misconduct may result in immediate disqualification.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to modify the rules or schedule due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • Choreography and technique
  • Costume and presentation
  • Stage usage
  • Creativity and expression
  • Overall impact
  • The decision of the judge shall be final and binding.

Fair Play and Conduct:

  • Any rule violation may result in disqualification.
  • The judges’ and organizers’ decisions will be final.
