All that you need to know about Nukkad Natak

Nukkad Natak is a form of theatrical performance and presentation in outdoor public spaces. It's an old tool through which a lot of social awareness campaigns have gained strength, such as family planning, girls' education, child labor, etc.

Rules:

  1. Team Size: 8-20 (Including all music accompanists)
  2. Only a single and final round will lead to results.
  3. Stage specifications: Open-air ground stage with audience on all sides.
  4. Time Limit: 10-15 minutes (including setup and clearance time i.e. empty stage to empty stage).
  5. The essence of the play should be brought out in Hindi or English or both. However, short snippets in other regional languages are allowed (max. 30 seconds).
  6. No electrical appliances (for example, amplifiers) shall be allowed during the performance, whether inside or outside the circle of performance. No plug points will be provided for this purpose.
  7. Teams will be penalized if they exceed the time limit.
  8. Plays can be based on any theme but inappropriate content, blasphemy or content defaming any political party or religious group is STRICTLY prohibited.
  9. Obscenity (at the discretion of judges) of any kind, is not allowed and may lead to disqualification.
  10. You are not allowed to play any recorded music using mobile phones or tapes.
  11. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
  12. Teams are prohibited from mentioning their college names during the performance by any medium. Any team doing so may be awarded a penalty.
  13. In case of any discrepancy, the decision of event organizers will be final.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Acting (facial expressions, body language)
  2. Voice (clarity, loudness, sync, modulation)
  3. Screenplay
  4. Crowd interaction
  5. Elements and overall impact (clarity of message)

About Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management

  • Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM) Gwalior was established in 1997 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.
  • It is an effort by MHRD towards building professionals in the fields of management and IT from the same institute.
  • The institute was created for facilitating research, consultancy and higher education in the areas of IT and business management.
  • Earlier the institute was prefixed with ABV in the year 2002 to honor the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
