  • From Ideas to AI Creations: Global Prompt Engineering Challenge is an international technical competition organized by the MakerSpace Cluster at Presidency University, Bengaluru under INNOVATEX 4.0.
  • The competition evaluates participants’ ability to design structured prompts for Generative AI systems to solve real-world problems effectively.
  • Teams will develop, test, and refine prompts that generate high-quality AI outputs, demonstrating strong prompt architecture, contextual reasoning, optimization, and ethical AI usage.

Participants will transform real-world problem statements into well-structured prompts capable of producing optimized AI-generated outputs.

Participants must design prompts that clearly define:

Prompt Structure Components

Each prompt should include:

  • Context definition
  • Clear task instructions
  • Constraints and conditions
  • Output formatting requirements

Technology Stack

Participants may use any permitted Generative AI tools, including:

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Perplexity
  • Open-source LLM platforms

Iteration and Refinement:

Teams must demonstrate multiple iterations of prompt optimization that improve output quality.

Output Quality Requirements

AI-generated outputs should demonstrate:

  • Relevance
  • Accuracy
  • Clarity
  • Logical reasoning
  • Alignment with the problem statement

Ethical AI Compliance

Participants must ensure:

  • No harmful or biased outputs
  • No unethical prompt engineering
  • Responsible AI usage

Documentation Requirements

Teams must document:

  • Prompt architecture
  • Iteration methodology
  • Optimization reasoning
  • Final AI outputs

General Participation Guidelines:

Participants must:

  • Follow the official event schedule
  • Bring their own laptops and chargers
  • Conduct all prompt engineering during the event duration
  • Ensure active contribution from all team members

Teams must document:

  • Selected problem statement
  • Prompt engineering approach
  • Iteration improvements
  • AI-generated outputs

Additional rules:

  • High-speed internet and power backup will be provided by organizers
  • Only publicly available AI tools may be used
  • Plagiarism of prompts, solutions, or ideas will result in disqualification
  • Participants must wear official event ID badges at all times

Safety And Conduct Rules:

Participants must maintain professional behaviour.

Strictly prohibited activities include:

  • Harassment or offensive behaviour
  • Use of illegal substances
  • Damage to university property
  • Any unethical activity during the competition

Violations may result in immediate disqualification.

Event Structure:

Challenge Briefing

  • Problem statement briefing and guidelines
  • Duration: 30 Minutes

Prompt Engineering Phase

  • Teams design and optimize prompts
  • Duration: 4.5 Hours

Final Presentation

  • Teams present their solution to the jury
  • Duration: 2 Hours

Jury Evaluation & Awards

  • Result announcement and closing ceremony
  • Duration: 30 Minutes

Submission Guidelines:

Teams must submit one consolidated PDF report containing:

  • Selected problem statement
  • Objective of the prompt
  • Final engineered prompt(s)
  • Prompt structure explanation
  • Summary of AI-generated outputs
  • Iteration log demonstrating improvements

Additionally:

  • Teams must prepare a presentation pitch deck for the jury evaluation.
  • Submissions must be uploaded through the designated competition platform before the deadline.

Judging Criteria:

  • Prompt Design and Structure: 25%
  • Output Relevance and Accuracy: 25%
  • Creativity and Innovation: 20%
  • Prompt Optimization and Refinement: 15%
  • Ethical and Responsible AI Usage: 10%
  • Presentation and Explanation: 5%

Scoring Overview:

  • Prompt Design: 25 Points
  • Output Accuracy: 25 Points
  • Creativity: 20 Points
  • Optimization: 15 Points
  • Ethical AI Usage: 10 Points
  • Presentation: 5 Points

Total Score: 100 Points

Penalties And Disqualification:

  • Late Submission: −10 Points
  • Plagiarism: Immediate Disqualification
  • Unethical Conduct: Permanent Ban
  • Offensive Behaviour: Immediate Disqualification
  • External Development: Immediate Disqualification
  • Tampering with Other Teams: Immediate Disqualification

Awards And Recognition:

  • 1st Prize: ₹10,000
  • 2nd Prize: ₹7,000
  • 3rd Prize: ₹5,000

Total Prize Pool: ₹22,000

All participants will receive International Participation Certificates.

  • Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
