HackRust 1.0: Stages and Timelines

PPT Submission Round

  • Teams are required to submit a PowerPoint presentation (PPT) through the Unstop platform outlining their problem statement, proposed solution, technology stack, and expected impact.
  • Submissions will be evaluated based on innovation, clarity, feasibility, and overall impact.
  • The presentation must be submitted in official PPT format, and the top-performing teams will be shortlisted to advance to the Online Screening Round.

Screening Round

  • Teams that qualify in the Presentation (PPT) Round will advance to the Online Screening Round.
  • In this stage, shortlisted teams will present their idea and solution to the evaluation panel for further assessment.
  • The evaluation will focus on the clarity of the concept, technical feasibility, innovation, and potential real-world impact of the proposed solution.
  • Based on the evaluation, the top 35–40 teams will be shortlisted to compete in the Grand Finale (Offline Round) at DCRUST, Murthal

HackRust 1.0 – 24-Hour Hackathon:

  • HackRust 1.0 is a flagship 24-hour hackathon organized by Google Developer Groups On Campus, DCRUST (Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science & Technology, Murthal).
  • The event aims to bring together passionate developers, designers, and innovators to build impactful solutions using modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Web Development, Cloud, and Data.
  • HackRust is designed as an intensive learning and innovation experience where participants collaborate in teams to solve real-world problems aligned with the vision of AI for Viksit Bharat 2047.
  • During the hackathon, participants will receive mentorship from experienced developers, guidance from the organizing team, and an opportunity to showcase their ideas in front of judges and industry professionals.
  • The event promotes creativity, collaboration, and hands-on development while encouraging students to transform ideas into working prototypes within a limited time frame.

Eligibility:

  • HackRust 1.0 is open to students from all academic backgrounds.
  • Eligible Participants:
  • Undergraduate Students
  • Postgraduate Students
  • Engineering Students
  • Management Students
  • Participants must currently be enrolled in a recognized college or university.

Team Formation:

  • Team Size: 2 – 4 Members
  • Each team must appoint one Team Leader
  • Inter-college teams are allowed
  • Inter-specialization / interdisciplinary teams are allowed
  • A participant can be part of only one team
  • Teams are encouraged to include members with diverse skills such as development, design, product thinking, and presentation.

Themes:

  • Participants can build solutions under the following broad themes:

  • VIKSIT BHARAT 2047
  • Smart Automation
  • Healthcare & Social Impact
  • FinTech & Digital Economy

  • Participants are free to innovate within these themes and propose creative solutions addressing real-world problems.
  • Participants will develop innovative solutions aligned with the following thematic areas. Teams are encouraged to identify real-world problems within the selected theme and build a working prototype that addresses the challenge effectively.

Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India Vision):

  • Solutions contributing toward India’s growth and development by 2047. Areas may include:
  • Smart governance
  • Sustainable infrastructure
  • Rural development
  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Financial inclusion
  • Social impact initiatives
  • The goal is to create technology-driven solutions that support India's long-term vision of becoming a developed nation.

Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies:

  • AI-driven innovations leveraging modern technologies to solve real-world challenges. Possible focus areas include:

Open Innovation:

  • Participants are free to propose any impactful solution across domains such as:

  • Any idea that solves a meaningful, real-world problem and demonstrates technological innovation is welcome.

Stages and Timeline:

PPT Submission Round:

  • In this stage, teams are required to submit a project proposal presentation.
  • The presentation should include:
  • Problem Statement
  • Proposed Solution
  • Technology Stack
  • Expected Impact
  • Implementation Plan
  • Submissions will be evaluated by the organizing team and mentors. Based on the evaluation, top teams will be shortlisted for the next round.
  • Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Online Presentation Round:

  • Shortlisted teams will present their ideas in an online presentation round.
  • Teams will explain:
  • The problem they are solving
  • Their proposed technical solution
  • Innovation and uniqueness
  • Potential real-world impact
  • The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session with judges and mentors.
  • Evaluation will focus on:
  • Clarity of idea
  • Technical feasibility
  • Innovation
  • Presentation skills
  • Team understanding of the solution
  • Top teams from this round will qualify for the final stage.

Offline On-Campus Hackathon (Final Round):

  • The final stage of HackRust 1.0 is a 24-hour offline hackathon hosted at DCRUST campus.
  • During this round:
  • Teams will develop working prototypes of their ideas.
  • Mentors will guide participants throughout the event.
  • Participants will collaborate, build, and test their solutions in real time.
  • At the end of the hackathon, teams will present their projects to the judging panel.
  • Projects will be evaluated based on:
  • Innovation and originality
  • Technical implementation
  • Practical usability
  • Scalability and impact
  • Presentation and teamwork

Duration of Rounds:

  • PPT Submission Round – As per submission deadline.
  • Online Presentation Round – Scheduled for shortlisted teams.
  • Offline Hackathon – 24 Hours (On Campus).

General Rules:

  • All participants must register through Unstop.
  • Teams must follow the official timelines.
  • Only original ideas and implementations are allowed.
  • Plagiarism or copied projects will lead to disqualification.
  • Organizers reserve the right to verify submissions at any stage.
  • All official communication will be shared through registered email.

Submission Rules:

  • PPT must follow the prescribed format.
  • Submissions must be uploaded before the deadline.
  • File naming and size guidelines must be followed.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.

Hackathon Rules (Offline Round):

  • Teams must work within the official hackathon duration.
  • Open-source libraries and APIs can be used with proper credit.
  • Internet access will be provided for development purposes.
  • Participants must carry valid college ID cards.
  • Any form of cheating, misconduct, or disruption is strictly prohibited.

Code of Conduct:

  • Participants are expected to maintain a professional and respectful environment.
  • All participants must:
  • Respect judges, mentors, and fellow participants.
  • Follow event guidelines and instructions.
  • Maintain collaborative and ethical behavior.
  • Violation of the code of conduct may result in disqualification.

Certificates & Prizes:

  • All participants will receive participation certificates
  • Winning teams will receive cash prizes and recognition
  • Additional opportunities such as mentorship and networking may be provided
  • Certificates and rewards will be issued after the event completion

  • The organizing committee reserves the right to modify schedules, rules, or event formats if necessary.
  • All decisions made by the jury and organizing team will be final and binding.
