Submission Round (via Unstop)
- The team must submit a 3-slider approach to the solution of the problem statement by 19th August 2024.
- The teams shortlisted for the next round will be announced on 20th August 2024.
- The participants must clearly outline the innovative idea your team will be working on.
- They must mention their choice i.e. Hardware or software
- They must also state their implementation strategy clearly stating the resources required to build their projects.
- Team would be shortlisted based on –

- Innovation and Creativity: Originality and novelty of the idea.
- Feasibility: Practicality and potential for real-world application.
- Technical Merit: Depth of technical implementation and use of resources.
- Presentation Quality: Clarity, coherence, and professionalism of the presentation.

Theme: Innovation in Waste Management
Problem Statement: Waste management is a pressing global issue that affects environmental health, public safety, and community well-being. The challenges range from inadequate waste segregation and recycling practices to inefficient collection systems and landfill overflows. Participants are tasked with identifying a problem within the waste management sector and proposing an innovative product that effectively addresses this challenge.
Event Guidelines for the 24-Hour Hackathon
- The team size for each team is 1 to 3 members.
- Participants would have the option to go for either software or hardware domain for their hackathon project.
- The completion would consist of 2 rounds – PPT Submission and Hackathon
Round 1: PPT Submission
- The team must submit a 3-slider approach to the solution of the problem statement by 18th August 2024.
- The teams shortlisted for the next round will be announced on 20th August 2024.
- The participants must clearly outline the innovative idea your team will be working on.
- They must mention their choice i.e. Hardware or software
- They must also state their implementation strategy clearly stating the resources required to build their projects.
- Team would be shortlisted based on:
- Innovation and Creativity: Originality and novelty of the idea.
- Feasibility: Practicality and potential for real-world application.
- Technical Merit: Depth of technical implementation and use of resources.
- Presentation Quality: Clarity, coherence, and professionalism of the presentation.
Round 2: Hack-A-Thon
- The event will be an overnight hackathon from 24th August 2024, 10:00 A.M. to 25th August 2024, 10:00 A.M.
- Creativity and originality of the idea
- Technical difficulty and implementation
- Practical impact and usability of the solution
- Overall presentation and pitch
- How well the project addresses the given problem
- Functionality and completeness of the solution
- Teamwork demonstrated during the hackathon
Facilities and Amenities during the 24-hour:
- The participants will be given snacks/food packets late at night.
- A bus facility will be provided to transport participants to their hostels for lunch and dinner.
- A special dinner will be organized for all participants on Day 1 at IGH, BIT Mesra.
Other Rules and Regulations:
- All work must be original and created within 24 hours.
- Participants must adhere to the event schedule and submission deadlines.
- The shortlisted female candidates will be given the official permission letter which they must get signed by their wardens to stay out past 9:00 P.M. on 24th August 2024. They are required to submit a signed hard copy of this document to the organizers in advance.
- It is mandatory for all participants to be present throughout the hackathon. Any team member's absence may lead to disqualification if not specified beforehand.
- Respectful and professional behaviour is expected at all times.
For participants not from BIT Mesra:
- All the above rules apply to candidates not from BIT Mesra.
- The organizers will arrange accommodation for the candidates, but they will need to cover the cost themselves.
