Market Royale: Stages and Timelines
Pre-competition
- Participants register individually or in teams. API documentation and sandbox environment will be released a week before.
- Sample trading bot provided.
- The backtester is live at: https://ieee.bits-apogee.org/backtest/
Day1
- Participants submit their algorithms to the website, and watch their bot take on the market!
- Real time analytics and portfolio performance will be available on the website.
- Watch out for news events - there will be sudden changes to prices of commodities.
- Can your bot maneuver through the chaos of a disrupted supply chain to make profits?
Intermission (Between Day 1 & Day 2)- Market closes.
- Market will close for the night. - Participants can play mini-games to earn bonus resources or power-ups!
Day 2 – Market Session 2 (14th April 2026)
- Market reopens with updated portfolios, and trades continue until the event ends. - Further bot-driven market events occur.

CFM X IEEE
Event Format:
- 2-day algorithmic trading challenge
- Participants design trading bots to operate in a simulated stock market
- Assets include in-game resources like Oil, Wood, Brick, Steel, and Grain
- Algorithms place buy and sell orders in an anonymous order book
- Participants respond to market changes, resource discoveries, and supply shocks
- The objective is to build the most valuable portfolio
Eligibility:
- 2-day event participation required
- Only individual participation is allowed
- Open only to college students
Guidelines:
- Coding must be done in Python.
- Final portfolio value = cash + sum of volume weighted average price of each commodity (last 30 minutes of Day 2)
- Limited strategy changes allowed between Day 1 and Day 2
- Trading tax is applied as a fixed percentage of the notional trade value
- An additional dynamic fee is applied for trades far from market price
- Any form of collusion will lead to strict penalties
- Exploiting bugs or colluding with other teams is strictly prohibited, and will lead to penalties/disqualification.
