All that you need to know about Robo Rush

Build and race your custom-designed bot through a thrilling obstacle course. Speed, stability, and strategy will decide the winner. Every turn, barrier, and hurdle will test the bot’s engineering design and the team’s problem-solving abilities.

Platform:

  • On-Campus (Offline Event)

Team Size:

  • 3–5 members per team

Overview:

  • The Bot Racing Challenge is designed to test the creativity, technical skills, and teamwork of participants. Teams must design and construct a wirelessly controlled robot that is capable of navigating a dynamic and obstacle-filled racecourse. The track will include sharp turns, uneven surfaces, wedges, speed breakers, and narrow sections that require precise control and agility.
  • The primary objective is to complete the course in the shortest possible time. However, it is not just about speed—maneuverability, stability, and strategy play equally important roles. A team that balances careful navigation with quick execution will have the best chance of securing victory.
  • This competition is not only about winning but also about learning. Participants will get an opportunity to apply engineering concepts, experiment with design ideas, and showcase innovative thinking in real-world problem solving.

Rules & Regulations

  • Immobility: If the robot is unable to move for three minutes, the team will be disqualified.
  • Toppling: If a robot topples, it will be placed back at the last successfully cleared checkpoint.
  • Skipping Obstacles:
    • Teams may choose to skip an obstacle if their bot is unable to cross it.
    • Skipping incurs a time penalty of 10–15 seconds, depending on the checkpoint.
    • Skips are limited to 25% of total checkpoints.
  • Off-Track: If a bot leaves the racing path, it will be placed at the last cleared checkpoint and allowed to continue.
  • Shortcuts: Not allowed. Bots must follow the designated track and complete all sections.
  • Disqualification: Any form of misconduct, tampering with the track, or violation of the above rules will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Final Authority: In case of disputes, the organizers’ and jury’s decision will be final and binding.

Bot Specifications

  • Must fit inside a 30cm x 30cm (L x B) box.
  • Operated via wireless control only.
  • Powered by an on-board power supply not exceeding 12V DC between any two points.
  • No use of readymade kits or assemblies is allowed; bots must be custom-built.

Track Specifications

  • Track width: 0.3m – 0.5m.
  • Contains U-turns, right-angled turns, wedges, loops, hurdles, speed breakers, and narrow paths.
  • Designed to test a bot’s stability, maneuverability, and speed in real time.

Judging Criteria & Scoring:

  • Fastest Completion Time will determine the winner.
  • Time Penalties:
    • Skipping obstacles → +10–15 seconds.
    • Going off-track → restart from the last checkpoint.
  • Disqualification Cases: immobility, repeated misconduct, use of shortcuts, or exceeding design specifications.

Team Guidelines:

  • Each team must have 3–5 members, all from the same institution.
  • Collaboration is key: team members may divide roles into design, programming, control, and strategy.
  • Teams are encouraged to maintain sportsmanship and respect towards fellow competitors.

Event Flow:

  • Registration: Teams register on-campus before the deadline.
  • Qualification Round (if needed): Teams may be shortlisted based on design checks or preliminary runs.
  • Final Round: Bots race on the complete obstacle course in timed runs.
  • Winner Declaration: Based on fastest valid completion time after penalties.

This competition promises an exciting mix of engineering, strategy, and adrenaline-pumping action. Whether you race for victory or for the love of robotics, the Bot Racing Challenge guarantees a fun and enriching experience for all participants.
