All that you need to know about Specathon 2025

Details:

  • Event Name: Specathon - 2025
  • Dates: 19th and 20th September’2025
  • Duration: 36 Hours
  • Venue: St. Peter’s Engineering College, Medchal, Telangana

Introduction:

Specathon is a 36-hour national-level hackathon organized by GRADIENT CLUB, the technical club of the Department of CSE(Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) of St. Peter’s Engineering College. It is an intensive event where participants from various colleges and states collaborate to build innovative projects within a limited time frame.

Registration Guidelines:

  • Eligibility: Open to all undergraduate students from recognized institutions.
  • Team Formation:
    • Teams should consist of 2-4 members.
    • Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged.
    • A participant can only be a member of one team.
  • Registration Platform: Unstop
  • Registration Deadline: 28th August 2025
  • Selection Process:
    • Teams will be shortlisted based on their submitted abstracts.
    • Shortlisted teams will be notified via email on or before 31 August’2025.

Team Rules:

  • Team Composition:
  • Teams must have a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 4 members.
  • Code of Conduct:
    • Teams must adhere to the principles of fair play.
    • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
    • Use of external libraries and frameworks is allowed, provided they are open-source and properly
      cited.
  • Project Submission:
    • All code must be submitted through the designated platform by the end of the hackathon.
    • Teams must maintain a project log, documenting their progress, challenges, and solutions.

Guidelines for Participation:

  • Workspace:
    • Teams will be provided with a workspace equipped with internet access, power outlets, and basic
    • Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops and other necessary equipment.
    • If the team uses hardware for their project they must bring their own prototypes.
  • Mentorship:
    • Academic mentors will be there to help the teams.
    • Teams can consult mentors during designated mentoring hours
  • Review Sessions:
    • There will be multiple review sessions to assess the progress of the projects in the span of 2 days.
    • Teams should be prepared to present their work at each review stage.
    • Teams should be ready with their progress report before review sessions.

  • Participants are encouraged to choose one of the following domains for their projects:
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Cyber Security
    • Data Science
    • Agriculture
    • Waste Management
    • Block Chain
    • Auto Tech
    • IoT ( Internet of Things)
    • Open Innovation
    • Low Poverty

Stages of the Hackathon:

Day 1: 19th September’2025

  • Inauguration :
    • The event will be inaugurated by esteemed guests and industry experts.
    • Teams will be briefed on the event schedule and guidelines.
  • Hackathon Commences :
    • Teams will begin working on their projects.
  • First Review:
    • Teams will present their project ideas and initial plans.
    • Reviewers will assess the feasibility and innovation of the proposed solutions.
  • Lunch Break (1:30 PM - 2:30 PM)
  • Second Review:
    • Teams will showcase their progress, including design and development work.
    • Reviewers will provide feedback and suggest improvements.
  • Snacks Break (6:30 PM - 7:00 PM)
  • Dinner Break (8:30 PM - 9:30 PM)
  • Third Review :
    • Teams will demonstrate the functionality of their code and prototypes.
    • Reviewers will evaluate the technical implementation and usability.

Day 2: 20th September’2025

  • Entertainment and Refreshments :  
    • Fun activities to help participants relax and re-energize.
    • Singing, dancing, and other performances.
  • Hackathon Resumes :
  • Breakfast Break 
  • Fourth Review :
    • Teams will present their near-final projects, including front-end, back-end, and integrated
      functionalities.
    • Reviewers will assess the completeness and coherence of the projects.
  • Lunch Break (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM)
  • Final Review :
    • The top teams will present their final projects to the review panel.
    • Teams will use a projector to demonstrate their work in detail.
  • Closing Ceremony and Announcement of Winners (5:00 PM):
    • The winners will be announced and awarded prizes.
    • A closing speech by the organizers and guests.

Judging Criteria:

  • Innovation and Creativity: How unique and original is the project?
  • Technical Implementation: The quality of the code, architecture, and technology stack.
  • Usability and Design: How user-friendly and visually appealing is the project?
  • Impact and Feasibility: The potential real-world impact and market viability of the project.
  • Presentation: The clarity and effectiveness of the project presentation.

Prizes:

  • Cash Prize Worth Upto Rs.30,000/- Along with Participation Certificate.

Accommodation and Amenities:

  • Accommodation: Proper accommodation will be provided for all participants for 2 days.
  • Food and Refreshments: Participants will receive meals and refreshments throughout the event.
