WIEHack 5.0: 36-Hour Women-Centric Hybrid International Hackathon: Stages and Timelines

Abstract Round

In this round, participants are required to submit a brief summary of their project ideas. It is important to note that there will be no interaction with mentors during this phase, and participants will be assessed solely based on their submissions.

Prototype & Presentation Round

Shortlisted teams will begin working on their prototypes. Here, the teams need to create a working prototype of their projects and present it to our mentors.

Business Plan Round

After the Prototype & Presentation Round, selected teams will create a business plan for their ideas, emphasizing the business potential. Projects showing greater business potential will receive higher consideration.

Final Round

The finalists will be required to give a full-fledged presentation,elaborately discussing their idea.

WIEHack 5.0, the flagship event of IEEE BVCOE, is a 36-hour women-centric hybrid international hackathon known for providing female undergraduate students a stepping stone to the world of tech. It also offers a dedicated platform to address the gender imbalance in the field of engineering.

Women In Engineering, a segment that needs more representation in the engineering community, have always observed an unfavorable gender ratio. Addressing this issue, the eligibility criteria for forming a team for this event is that at least 50% of the team members must be women. Thus being women-centric, to encourage participation.

Being organized in the legacy of the previous iteration, which received international participation and thus will feature both online as well as offline participation for accessibility, hence it is hybrid.

Note:

  • The offline mode of the hackathon will have limited slots, and participation will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis for those opting for it.
  • Venue: Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering, A-4, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi-110063
  • For others, online participation is available via Discord, running concurrently with the offline mode. Upon successful registration, participants will receive the server link via email.
  • At least 50% of the team members must be women.
