Cargill is hiring UX/UI Design Interns!
Responsibilities of the Intern:
- Gain professional experience as a UX/UI Designer working in a cross-functional team
- Learn best practices from industry professionals
- Understand what it is like to work within an agile software product team
- Work on fast-paced, prototype projects
- Ship a functioning prototype over the course of weeks
- Collaborate with clients to test prototypes and gain real - world insights
- Gain exposure speaking with and presenting to a variety of stakeholders across the business, engineering, design, and product functions
- Work in tandem with a full-stack software engineer to understand how to assess the feasibility of and implement proposed designs
- Advocate for the voice of the end-user in team planning meetings
- Work on real innovation initiatives that serve a variety of clients at Cargill ranging from animal nutrition, agricultural supply chain, protein, food ingredients, logistics, supply chain, and trading
- Apply your talents to digital initiatives that transform global food systems
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign graduating between Winter 2022 and Summer 2025
- Have the right to work in the US that is not based solely on the possession of a student visa or visa sponsored by a third-party employer
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in UX Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, Design, Graphic Design, or other related disciplines, OR commensurate experience with design in lieu of pursuing a related major/minor
- Experience with creating user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, and conducting usability testing using tools provided
- Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Axure, Balsamiq, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable software
- Ability to complete at minimum a semester-long internship during the fall 2022 semester (September - December 2022) working part-time (15-20 hours/week)
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance
- Willing to take ownership of the project and work
- Must be able to complete essential functions of this job as outlined in the job description with reasonable accommodations
- Pursuing a cross-disciplined degree in either Computer Science, Information Science, Business, Food Science, or Agriculture Business
- Overall 3.0 GPA preferred
- Commercial product software UX/UI design experience; web design experience, mobile design experience; experience working within an agile software team
- Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills; collaboration skills; verbal and written communication skills; and information research and gathering skills
- Knowledge of design best practices across material design, iOS design, web design, and responsive design
- Interested in returning to the Lab across additional semesters

In India, Cargill’s operations started in 1987. It has businesses in refined oils, food ingredients, grain and oilseeds, cotton, animal nutrition, industrial specialties, and trade structured finance. Cargill markets leading consumer brands of edible oils such as Nature Fresh, Gemini, Sweekar, Leonardo Olive Oil, Rath and Sunflower brand of hydrogenated fats. It also markets wheat flour under the Nature Fresh brand name. The Animal Nutrition business of Cargill provides animal feed and premix and nutrition for aqua, dairy and poultry. - Wet Corn Milling Plant (Davangere in Karnataka): $110 M USD investment to build a wet corn milling plant.
- Animal Feed Mill (Bathinda in Punjab): $15M USD investment to build a state-of-the-art dairy feed mill. The mill has a capacity of 12,000 metric tons per year.
- Corn silos ( Davangere in Karnataka) : To manage the supply chain for our Corn wet milling facility at Davangere.Cargill is also making inroads into bulk storage in India and we are setting up our first bulk storage facility of 60,000 metric tonnes in Davangere, Karnataka at an investment of approx. USD 10 mn.
- Dielectric Fluid (Envirotemp FR3) Manufacturing facility (Kurkumbh, Maharashtra): The dielectric fluid, is now manufactured in India by using Cargill’s patented technology. The FR3 fluid that is manufactured in India meets the specifications of international & local standards like IEC, IEEE and IS.
