Flipkart is hiring for the role of Data Scientist - Operations Research!
Responsibilities of the Candidate:
- Understand business and product needs and apply Operations Research and Optimization techniques to provide scalable solutions in a time-bound manner.
- Build models and scalable custom algorithms for decision optimization and predictive modeling.
- Explore solution alternatives and share insights with business and product teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, define, and refine project opportunities.
- Drive progress on projects within the Data Science team through effective communication and problem-solving.
Requirements:
- B.Tech, M.Tech, or PhD in Computer Science, Operations Research, or related field.
- 1–3 years of professional experience with deployed solutions/projects.
- Strong academic background in Operations Research (mathematical optimization).
- Proven experience in building discrete, linear, nonlinear, or stochastic optimization models; supply chain optimization is preferred but not mandatory.
- Hands-on experience with commercial solvers (CPLEX, Gurobi) and custom optimization algorithms (e.g., exact algorithms, metaheuristics, large neighborhood search, decomposition algorithms, greedy/randomized search).
- Good understanding of statistical models (regression, clustering) and machine learning algorithms (trees, random forests, SVM, boosting, neural networks).
- Strong programming skills in Python or R.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
