NOC Engineer

Blackhawk Network (BHN) is hiring for the role of NOC Engineer!

Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Act as Incident Manager during major or high-severity incidents, ensuring structured response and timely resolution.
• Lead technical bridges, coordinate cross-functional teams, and manage incident communication with stakeholders.
• Monitor production systems proactively to identify anomalies and service degradation.
• Own incident documentation, timelines, root cause discussions, and post-incident reviews.
• Design and enhance observability solutions including dashboards, alerts, and signal correlation.
• Build automation to reduce manual intervention, improve response times, and eliminate repetitive tasks.
• Contribute to AI-driven and intelligent incident detection and response initiatives.
• Analyze incident trends and system behavior to identify proactive improvement opportunities.
• Partner with engineering teams to build resilient, self-healing systems and better operational tooling.
• Support availability and stability of critical production systems like BLAST, CashStar, and related platforms.
• Improve incident management processes, tooling, and operational playbooks.
• Collaborate with engineering, platform, and network teams while growing ownership of systems and processes.

Requirements:

• Strong technical foundation in systems, applications, infrastructure, distributed systems, APIs, or networking fundamentals.
• Experience or exposure in NOC, SRE, Incident Management, or operational roles; strong engineering background with operations interest also considered.
• Ability to troubleshoot, triage, and make decisions under pressure.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring/observability tools such as Splunk, New Relic, or Grafana.
• Basic scripting/programming skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
• Strong understanding of production operations, monitoring, and system reliability concepts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills, especially during critical incidents.
• Interest in automation, observability engineering, and operational excellence.
• Exposure to high-availability systems, incident response, or SRE practices is a plus.
• Curiosity, quick learning ability, and willingness to grow in a hybrid engineering + operations role.
