Upjohn is a division of Pfizer. As an organization committed to putting patients first, Pfizer has always evolved with the changing needs of the people who rely on them to create a healthier world. That’s why their newly launched business, Upjohn, leverages the strengths at the core of who they are: an entrepreneurial mindset and a sense of purpose.

Upjohn is inspired by the heritage of Pfizer, a company known for its pioneering science. It harnesses the power of almost 20 of Pfizer's most iconic established biopharmaceutical brands all over the therapeutic areas which include Psychiatry, Pain, Cardiovascular and Urology just by thinking strategically and operating nimbly. And with the addition of our U.S. Greenstone portfolio, Upjohn’s commercial model also aims to reach a more diversified set of consumers.

At a time when healthcare is increasingly defined by a growing global middle class, a focus on quality and affordability and the rise of non-communicable diseases, Upjohn combines the agility of a startup with the resources and capabilities of a Fortune 100 enterprise. As a result, they're able to both innovate and execute quickly, from activating their portfolio to improving manufacturing to advancing research and development.

Today, Upjohn is serving more than 100+ markets and also has a network of 9 dedicated manufacturing sites bringing quality and reliability. And with roots in innovation and technological ingenuity, Upjohn is poised to take our portfolio of established medicines to the next level, bringing life-changing medicines to patients around the world and trailblazing a new path for the industry.

Mergers and Acquisitions:

  • Pfizer announced a joint merger of its consumer healthcare division with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the UK pharma giant on December 19, 2018. GSK, the British company will maintain a controlling stake (listed at 68%).
  • Pfizer Inc. was expected to merge with Allergan, Plc in the year 2016 to create the Ireland-based "Pfizer plc" in a deal that would have been worth $160 billion. However, the merger was called off in April of the same year, because of new rules from the US Treasury against tax inversions, a method of avoiding taxes by merging with a foreign company.

Corporate Social Responsibility:

Pfizer's corporate responsibility programs are designed to help strengthen global public health systems. The CSR Report of Pfizer explains how the company combines philanthropic methods with novel approaches to facilitate access to medicines for underserved communities around the world.
