Software Engineer

IHS Markit is hiring for the role of Software Engineer!

Roles and Responsibilities of the Candidate:

• Ownership of the implementation (estimation, breakdown of tasks) for business functional specifications through the full software development lifecycle
• Ownership of maintenance and support issues as they come up during the project lifecycle pre and post-go-live. Provide technical assistance to other teams – support, QA, business analysis
• Ability to work with a remote team in a geographically distributed development model
• Evaluate, apply & adopt new technologies and tools within the DevOps team and across the organization to provide productivity, efficiency, and scalability benefits
• Collaborate and share technical and business knowledge with members of the DevOps Team and wider organization
• Agent of constant improvement – within the development and across the organization

Eligibility and Experiences:

• B Tech./ M Tech / MCA degree in an IT/ Computer Science or related course is a prerequisite
• Commercial awareness, Tooling/Testing 
• Strong inter-personal skills required
• Ability to multitask and prioritize work
• Good working knowledge of DevOps processes
• +1 year experience working with AWS cloud
• Experience with CICD processes
• Knowledge and experience working with GitLab
• Knowledge and experience working with AWS
• IAC experience in Cloudformation and/or Terraform
• Scripting in Unix languages (bash)
• Experience using Monitoring tools such as Grafana, Splunk, CloudWatch
• Understanding of Metrics, KPIs, and tracing used to monitor application performance
• Working Knowledge of GitLab, branching, and code management
• Practical experience with IAC tooling such as Cloudformation and/or Terraform
• Understands fundamentals of JVM memory management
• Knowledge of Java applications and capable of troubleshooting application issues.
• Proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of development best practices are critical to successful performance in this role
