Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship is a prestigious fellowship program in Canada that provides funding to the most promising postdoctoral researchers in various fields of study. These fellowships are awarded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) for research on Health research, Natural sciences and/or engineering, and Social sciences and/or humanities.
The program is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and international applicants.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or an international applicant.
- International applicants can only apply if they completed their PhD or equivalent degree from a Canadian university.
- The applicant must have completed their PhD or equivalent degree within the past two years or plan to complete it by the application deadline.
- The applicant must have accepted an offer to conduct postdoctoral research at a host institution in Canada.
- The applicant must be proficient in either English or French, depending on the language of instruction at the host institution.
- The research proposal must fall under one of the following areas: health research, natural sciences and/or engineering, or social sciences and/or humanities.
- The applicant must be nominated by the host institution.
Benefits:
The financial support offered by Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program is of $70,000 annually for two years to successful candidates, which includes a $7,000 research allowance.
