All that you need to know about IIM Ahmedabad Fellow Programme in Management 2019

About the Opportunity-

IIM Ahmedabad Fellow Programme in Management 2019 invites applications from graduates/postgraduates/CA/ICWA/CS students who have a strong academic background. The key objective of this fellowship programme is to prepare students for a career in academia or research positions in industry. 
 
The fellowship is being offered by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. 

 

Eligibility-

The fellowship is open for students who -
  • Have a master's degree in any discipline with minimum 55% marks and at least 50% marks in graduation or equivalent degree (minimum three years of bachelors level), OR
  • Have a five-year or four-year integrated master's degree in any discipline with minimum 55% marks obtained after completion of class 12, OR
  • Have a 4-year bachelor's degree with minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade point average, OR
  • Have a professional qualification like CA/CS/ICWA with minimum 55% marks, AND
  • Have taken the Common Admission Test (CAT) or a standard test in lieu of CAT like GMAT/GRE/UGC-JRF/GATE.

 

Benefits-

The fellowship covers all academic expenses like tuition, computer, library. placement, alumni fees and medical insurance. Adding to this, the fellows will receive -
  • Subsistence allowance of INR 32,800 per month (for first and second years), INR 35,400 per month (after the completion of comprehensive examination) and INR 39,300 per month (after the submission of TAC approved thesis proposal).
  • Contingency allowance of INR 25,000 per annum for 5 years covering research expenses, photocopying expenses, expenses on books, etc. 
  • A maximum amount of INR 1,75,000 for attending international workshops/summer school/conferences during the fellowship programme. 
  • Accommodation (if available)

Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship programme online through the following steps -
Step 1: Click here to start the application. 
Step 2: Click on "New applicants please register here first".
Step 3: Fill in all required details and submit to register. 
Step 4: Once registered, the applicants will registration and login details on their email. 
Step 5: Login again to complete the application. 
Step 6: Read all the instructions carefully. 
Step 7: Fill in all necessary details.
Step 8: Upload supporting documents. 
Step 9: Pay the application fee of INR 500 through IIMA gateway.
Step 10: Finally, submit the application. 

 

Documents Required-

  • All academic transcripts starting from class 10th. 
  • Degree certificates
  • Scorecard or mark sheet of the qualifying test (except CAT)
Note: All documents to be uploaded should be in PDF format only with file size up to 2 MB only. 

 

Selection Criteria-

The selection of fellows involves the following two steps -
  • Initial shortlisting of candidates based on their performance in CAT, experience and academic background
  • Interview at Ahmedabad during March-April 2019

About Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad

  • The decade following independence in 1947 witnessed a surge of innovative ideas to create a fledgling independent nation into a model democratic republic pledged to growth with equality. The establishment of the IIMA (Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad) was the result of one such innovative initiative.
  • Led by eminent industrialist and philanthropist Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai and a space scientist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, and proactively supported by Dr. Jivraj Mehta, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, a group of enlightened individuals set up IIM Ahmedabad in 1961. This group ably wove together a coalition of five actors - the governments at the centre and the state, local industrialists, the Ford Foundation and the Harvard Business School, to establish the foundations of the Institute.
  • IIM Ahmedabad was set up as an institution that would be managed by a Society, the IIMA Society, created under the Societies Act.
  • A Board of Governors, constituted by the IIMA Society, was to run the Institute; the Board would have representation from all the relevant constituencies so as to reflect the multifarious needs of a developing nation. IIM Ahmedabad was therefore conceived as a Board-managed institution, free from the exclusive control of any one constituency. Thus, an integral part of the DNA of IIM Ahmedabad is operational freedom.
  • IIM Ahmedabad has been consistently ranked as the premier management school in the country by several national agencies.
  • IIM Ahmedabad programmes are also ranked highly in several international rankings.
  • In 2008, IIM Ahmedabad became the country's 1st B-School to which EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) awarded EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditation.
