Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students, Tripura 2024-25

About The Program:

Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students, Tripura 2024-25 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India for OBC category students studying at the post-matriculation level. The scholarship aims to aid students financially so they can pursue higher education. The selected students will receive a monthly maintenance allowance of up to ₹750 and other benefits for the complete duration of the course.

 Eligibility:  

To be eligible, an applicant must:

• Be an Indian Citizen
• Be a Domicile of Tripura
• Belong to The Other Backward Class (obc) Community (as Notified by The Central or State Government/ut Administration)
• Be Studying Post-Matriculation or Post-Secondary Courses in A Recognised Institution/school/university
• Have an Annual Parent(s)/guardian(s) Income of Not More than ₹1,50,000, Including Their Own Income (if Employed)

The following students are ineligible for the scholarship scheme:

• The scholarships are open to Indian nationals belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) as notified by the Central Government, State Government, or UT Administration.
• These scholarships are awarded for the study of all recognised post-matriculation or post-secondary courses pursued in recognised institutions.
• Applicants must belong to the OBC category as specified for the state/UT where they are permanently settled.
• Applicants must have passed Matriculation, Higher Secondary, or any higher examination from a recognised University or Board of Secondary Education.
• Candidates studying in the same stage of education in different subjects (e.g., I.Sc. after I.A., B.Com. after B.A., or M.A. in one subject after M.A. in another) are not eligible.
• Students who have completed their education in one professional line (e.g., LLB after B.T./B.Ed.) are not eligible.
• Students enrolled in Class 11 of Higher Secondary School or Class 12 of Multipurpose High School are not eligible as it's considered a continuous school course. However, students who pass the tenth class of these courses (considered equivalent to Matriculation) and then join other courses are eligible as post-matric students.
• Students pursuing postgraduate medical courses are only eligible if they are not allowed to practice during their studies.
• Students who join recognized professional or technical certificate/diploma/degree courses after failing or passing undergraduate/postgraduate examinations in Arts/Science/Commerce are eligible for scholarships if they meet other requirements. Subsequent failures are not condoned except for courses in Group 'A', and no further course changes are allowed after receiving the scholarship.
• Students pursuing courses through correspondence (including distance and continuing education) are eligible for reimbursement of non-refundable fees. Additionally, they are eligible for an annual allowance of ₹900 for essential/prescribed books.

Fees: Scholars will be reimbursed for the compulsory fees (e.g. enrolment/registration, tuition, games, union, library, magazine, medical exam), excluding refundable deposits like caution money and security deposit.

Study tours: A maximum of ₹900 per annum will be paid to scholars studying professional and technical courses, provided that the head of the institution certifies that the study tour is essential for completion of the course.

Thesis typing/printing charges: A maximum of ₹1,000 will be paid to scholars on the recommendation of the head of the institution

Note:- Students who pursue their studies through correspondence courses (i.e. distance and continuing education) will be eligible for reimbursement of a non-refundable fee. Besides reimbursement, such students will also be eligible for an annual allowance of ₹900 for essential/prescribed books, as applicable.

Documents:

• A passport-size photograph of the student with the student's signature
• Academic transcripts including certificates/diplomas/marksheets of the previous qualifying examination
• Caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO)
• Family income certificate (Note:- If self-employed, an income declaration affirming definite income from all sources through an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper)
• Receipt acknowledging the scholarship in the previous year (for renewal, if applicable)
• Disability certificate (if applicable)
