All that you need to know about Discussion Forum: Decoding Toxic Masculinity
Discussion Forum is an initiative undertaken by ASHA: The IPM Social Club, along with other committees and clubs across the IPM and PGP board. The initiative aims at creating a platform for informed discussion and conversation on a variety of contemporary social issues, not just on the campus level, but country wide.
Placing experts and leading persons for the fields, as the panelists of the conference, Discussion Forums aims at educating and pioneering a change, through an open set-up where questions are welcome.
In this edition of Discussion forums, we are taking on the topic of 'Decoding Toxic Masculinity'.
This talk arose from The Delhi 'Bois Locker Room' incident dawned on the realisation of the crucial need for conversation and understanding of the root causes behind such behaviours. Some of the topics that will be addressed are the role of privilege and sexually regressive atmospheres in the exhibition of such behaviour and further analysis of possible interconnections between toxic masculinity and religion, along with the role of politics in this landscape. Most importantly, how can we identify the fine line between complimenting a person without it being perceived in a wrong light? What are the challenges that will be faced when we think of making our campuses and workplaces more diverse?
Our lead panelist of the discussion is Dr Arpita Chakraborty, who has completed her PhD at the School of Law and Government. (Profile: https://bit.ly/32NiGJH).
