IMT has endowed some of the greatest C-suite executives to the business world. And to maintain this legacy, the institute has devised a highly competitive procedure for the MBA aspirants eyeing this mecca of learning.

    • Total fees for  PGDM (Marketing, Finance, Full Time and BFS) is INR 19 Lakh for two years with an additional INR 4.5 Lakh for an exchange program in London (BFS domain)

To make the admission process easier to comprehend here is the experience of an MBA aspirant who was recently interviewed at IMT Ghaziabad.

The Common Admissions process for shortlisted candidates from IMT Common Application form for its final selection consists of two rounds:

  1. Group Exercise
  2. Personal Interview

Group Exercise

After doing away with the GE round a year ago, IMT has once again revived the practice. In this round, the aspirants were divided into groups and each group was given a case study. The allotted time was approximately 30 minutes. The candidates were tested on the basis of the contribution of their ideas, innovation and creativity, and leadership potential.

Here is an account of an MBA aspirant who appeared for the admission process at IMT Ghaziabad.

My group had a panel of 12 eligible candidates and the case study was as follows:

“You belong to the PR department of a firm that has been testing its beauty products on animals. An NGO has raised obligations and now you have to launch a campaign to improve your brand image in the market.”

Since I practiced some case studies before the final day, I learned to stay focused on the goal. While putting my points forward, I gave equal importance to teamwork as well. Throughout the round, I listened attentively and soaked the information to give a nice closing to the case study. I believe all of this made me sail past the GE round smoothly.

Personal Interview

The PI process was approximately 20-25 minutes long. The basis of its evaluation was communication and interpersonal skills, analytical/problem-solving skills, business affairs and general awareness, domain knowledge and future potential for employability. There were two interviewers in the panel.

As I was the last one in my group so they asked me how I was feeling about it. What insights did I get from other students about the panel and the questions they were asking? Some other questions that I can remember are:

  1. Tell us something which is not mentioned in the form
  2. Two things you want to change about Delhi.
  3. An Indian women business leader who has inspired you in some way
  4. What all things have you learned from the initiatives taken in the 12th standard? Do you think if you had allocated that time to studies you could have scored better in boards?
  5. Where do you see yourself in the next 20 years?

The most interesting question that I can recall was - suppose there is a WhatsApp rumor that Trump is going to conduct a meeting with CEOs of top US companies. But he will have to call for a samosa party. What do you think is the reason behind it?

Overall, it was a flexible and conversational interview. I must say that the mock interviews gave me the preparation needed to nail the real thing.

Bonus Tip: Don’t make up scenarios in your mind before the final day as it will only cause restlessness. Eat, breath and sleep well and show your skills with confidence.

This experience must have given you a fair idea of the admission process at IMT Ghaziabad. Now all you need is practice and you are set to come out with flying colors.

Good Luck!
