With a recent surge in the COVID-19 cases across the country, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released a revised academic calendar for this academic year. According to the new calendar, the classes will now begin for the existing batches technical courses from August 17.

It also lists out that the new academic session will begin from October 15. AICTE has released this revised calendar after the latest UGC guidelines that have postponed the final year examinations to after August 15, with no definitive dates.

In its official statement, AICTE said, ‘The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued revised guidelines on examination and academic calendars for all universities, in view of the COVID-19, on July 6. All the AICTE approved institutions/universities are requested to follow UGC revised guidelines on examination.’

The revised calendar also states that all management programmes are to complete their courses by August 17. Admissions will also have changed dates, as the PGDM and PGCM course-admissions are now to be completed by August 17.

Further changes include:

  • October 20 now the last date for admitting students for the 2020-21 academic year
  • Counselling for seat allotment to be wrapped up by October 5
  • Session for new students through lateral entry in the second year to commence from October 15
  • The academic session for PGDM/PGCM courses to begin from August 10

AICTE has also issued revised dates for cancellation of seats, admission to open and distance learning courses, grant approvals etc. Read the official notification here.
